Now you see as most of you know I made a claim of 205 MPH now I was only quoting what I was told by my seller!

I am just about to go and question he's honesty because of the reaction i got from you folks? Then I see the above thread reply.

SO! if these figures are true then why was my suggestion that stupid. I was told that my car has been modified? It is supposed to be:

A Nissan 300ZX twin turbo Auto Jap import 400bhp and it has no rev limiter it has a claimed 0 - 60 of 4.7 sec's and to be honest that don't supprise me it dont wheelie but it does fookin fly?

Please dont start an arguement I dont wanna go through all that again. I want you to help me here. As a fellow owner albeit a new one. Should I front my man or could it all be true. I aint bothered if it only done 160mph I just dont want to be ripped off?

 

I have felt a bit like a to55er because I do understand you do know your 300ZX's and I dont (yet) I know my bikes and could probably loose half of you there. But ZX's I am new and obviously naive. I want to be a proud owner. I will learn hopefully with your help?

bottom line bud, is that you cant prove or disprove. You could go there and say Theoretically a 400BHP car couldnt do that, and his reply would be "Mine does". Answer: hes full of it , or his speedo needs calibrating.

as I said up there! I aint bothered coz I love the car if it only did 140 it would still be mine and it is in great condition. It has done 53.000 km and has a bit of history. It had a new cam velt fiited and a new mot. so all in all its ok. I just feel a bit of an idiot. I never got it BTW becuase of the MPH. this i learned after I got it. Although 400bhp was a tipper in the deal?

Hello mate. Remember I am green here!

He said the flywheel has been changed the computer has been chipped the gearbox is upgraded the exhaust although not noisey is a perfomance item and the rev limiter has been done and the whole thing is tweeked. Now as I said I dont really care but if you say this is as is then thats what you want aint it? And the other cars he sells are. Jnc 14 - 15 on the M1 should be good nice and striaght about 9 miles long.

Some nice cars there mate .. I'm in no way saying that you have't got a 400 bhp car by the way :-) Just thought it would be good to find out exactly what this guy has done to it.

 

I am presuming you also have upgraded induction and boost controller or jets? Do you have a boost gauge? If so, what is she boosting at?

I guess the best answer is to just ask him to validate he's claims? Do you mean a sepeate boost gauge not the turbo gauge? No it hasn't mate. the standard turbo gauge and the car takes off as it hits the plus side like someone has kicked you up the arse. Don't get me wrong but my MG ZT190+ 2.5 manual is quite fast??? (well ok then. It aint slow) LOL. But the ZX is like madly faster floor the throttle and within a second or two the back end will just give out and then you enter a different league. if acceleration is anything to go by. I have had it up to 155mph on my sat nav at just below 5000 and she will rev right into the redline as I have held a gear and done so once or twice. but I ran out of road.

Although the Standard auto gear ratio's are capable of 200+ in theory, the fact is that the standard auto box would'nt be able to handle the power needed to reach those speeds.

 

You mentioned gearbox has been upgraded - You should get some more info on what has been upgraded with it. Could be Oil cooler, could be ALC, could be a Fastroad rebuild.

 

Highly recomend you get an External Boost Guage fitted. The Stock one is rubbish. If your on stuck Turbo's and stock injectors (again, try and find out as much as u can about wether these items are standard or not) you'll need to make sure your not putting out more boost than they can handle.

Sounds like you have a nice car there mate. I would take the car to a specialist to see what has been done to it.

 

If he has upped the boost on the car, which he may have done it would be very wise to get an aftermarket boost gauge fitted, especially if he has used jets as these can cause spiking boost levels (I know some will disagree) I'm not saying that the jets aren't safe but you would need a gauge, last thing you need is to overboost.

 

Ask about the ECU (what chip is it?, has it been piggybacked etc .. )

Ask about induction (Does it have a standard airbox or aftermarket cone filter, ARC induction?)

Has it been decatted?

Boost controller fited?

boost jets?

AFC?

 

Just a few things to find out mate. As I said before this has nothing to do with 400 bhp .. just nice to know what EXACTLY has been done to the car.

Best thing to do is get it on a rolling road! I have more mods than you and im not pushing nowhere near 400hp.

 

On and dont do the M1, the M6 toll road is much better ;)

 

Again, not being an arse, but that skyline has 880cc injectors, so i very much doubt it has over 1000hp!

Just as a note .. When I first had my car it already had a boost controller, AFC, boost gauge and induction. These were replaced for more modern items.

 

I blew an intercooler pipe the second day I had the car so I am saying be careful. Better to be safe than sorry, don't want you posting on here to say that your engine has gone bang or something like that. That would be gutting.

You really do need to know what has been done for many reasons.

 

1) to make sure your not driving a Time bomb. ie I know john Dixon did run his car for a short period at around 400 RWHP with complete stock internals and tubs, but knocked it back because they will sooner or later go pop.

 

2) you need to know whats been done for servicing and/or future upgrade. (ie any work carried out the mechanics need what your running to ensure the fuel air setup is bang on or you might not go far before it goes bang) Mr Nissan dealer would just treat it as standard motor. and whoops we didn't know so we cannot be held responcible.

 

3) Insurance also need to know what you've got because itf they don't and you have an accident they woun't pay up and if anyone is kill you could be going for a nice holiday at HM Prison near you. This is proberbly the best argument to the seller as to why you must know. ie for your insurance.

 

4) most importantly you need to know what you've got then you know what to look out for, what to look after and what you should and shouldn't be doing.

Run it up the strip , get your times , you can then compare them to times done by other known cars(eg Chunk,TonyC,Jaffa etc) £10 entry , £15 to run. Britains cheapest "rolling road"

I dont know the reputation this worldwide cars has but looking at a few of the cars featured on his site he goes in for a lot of chaved up super cars with fancy stickers on the side can you be dead certain it is as highly tuned as worldwide cars make out?? or is it just a load of stickers, bling, high spoilers and b*ll*cks to get people to buy them??IMHO. Get your car down the pod or a rolling road and get it checked for certain as there are a lot of sales men who just say what you want to here. I should know i am one of them :x:
