Does anyone know of a dedicated unit that does both - not just a GPS unit that informs of speed camera locations......

don't think there is one m8, i assume you mean a sat nav with built in laser detector? otherwise as you say there a few that do sat nav AND camera data base

Yes Mate there are two on the market at the mo.

The Snooper S6R Neo and the B2 Origin + both have the facility for a SatNav add on at a nominal cost. Speek to Bob at Safe and Sound Tel 0800 5422875

his question was a dedicated unit that does both

and there isnt one, most of the gps units have add ons are are basically crap

the closest system to what he is after is vdo, but again is crap and only detects camera data base if any of the camera/laser detectors had done a combined sat nav, it would be the best selling one on the market,

im sure the only way you can add sat nav to them is via a pda

I wouldn't say that they are crap????

My TOM TOM with GPS poi's isn't the most reliable because if new cameras are installed then you wouldn't know where they are but at least it gives a better than nothing idea where most are and you can update? AND IT'S FREE. It has saved my bacon a few times so theres proof that it ain't crap?

And if you got the patients you can install a vocal warning too?

lol sorry m8 i meant the add ons to the units themselves, always seem to have a slight lag, the pda's are excellent, my missus has got the medion, and if it gets her up and down the motorway it MUST be good :nelson:

the ONLY thing i didn't like about the pda was the extra wiring, hence i have tried QUITE a few, as i already have a road angel a micro road pilot, and a laser jammer, i eventually got the garmin 2610, only one wire with built in gps, only problem is my dash now looks like a mantlepiece

No probs Billy.

I wasn't sounding you out anyway mate coz we all got our opinions?

My bro inlaw as got the TOM TOM GO and that is less wireing but you are spot on there. It does my head in with all the wires.

Just to brighten things up a bit???

(TRUE STORY)

my work mate has got a road angel and an ipaq sat nav. He was in norfolk and got lost? :xxx: (sat nav on) he was running late as a result and got done for speeding by a handheld radar trap :xxx: (road angel on).

HOWS THAT!

the ONLY thing i didn't like about the pda was the extra wiring

Bluetooth enabled PDA and Bluetooth GPS receiver solves the wireing issue.

Blimey - I nearly started a fight !!! :slap:

I'm surprised there aren't any dedicated units that do both - maybe I should start marketing one !!

Thanks for the help anyway

You could try the RACTrackstar+ and get the safe speed option. It's a subscription based SatNav system and links in with a camera database. It's all linked to the TrafficMaster System, giving you real time traffic reports as well. It's a bit pricey but does wht you asked for. http://www.ractrackstar.com/protection.aspx

A BIT PRICEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol trafic master is not sat nav, as you say it is a traffic aid, you would also

have to purchase the sat nav part, plus the camera option (which only does fixed cameras,) i reckon to get all the options to do as he asked would be £1500+ PLUS a subscription to each one yearly, and at the end it still wouldn't do what the road angel/snoopers etc do,

good options for a company rep but a bit inpractical for your average use:(

I guess I'll just have to splash out on sat nav AND a road angel / snooper !! I was looking at the Navman iCN510 - has anyone used one of these ?
