I can't believe I have failed on these things.

Boot won't open.

Small blow in the exhaust between the cat and the rear section join.

Spoiler brake light not working.

That makes my car a real death trap and surely unroadworthy! These MOT rules drive me mad :headvswal

I know about the others and have sorted the brake light already but can someone out there tell me why the hell my boot not opening is a fail! I can open it, I just need someone to operate the lever whilst I open the boot.

Don't ya just hate MOT's!

Think id ask to see where on the MOT tersters guide "Does boot open" is.

Obviously the tester hadnt got any the night before.

IIRC if the car has a part it must work properly. IE it has a boot but it must open and close as per normal.

Im surprized he still failed it tho, go n give him a slap! :slap:

So how come a car can pass an MOT test without the reversing lights working???

I think this confirms it!

So in short, anyone who lives in Camberley, stay away from Motest in the Old Dean. They are Masturbaters! :xxx:

Is it me (or the malt whisky) but doesn't this reference just refer to the doors and not the boot???

I would imagine they would need access to the boot interior, to check for things like rust/rot, and without access they would have to fail it ?

Although surely they'd still be able to access it via the folding rear seat...so not sure about that.

ive seen quite a lot of MOT's being done and NEVER once seen the tester open the boot of a car, sounds like *****cks to me. As for your boot not opening, you need to lower the catch, i guess it rattles on bumpy roads too right?

when my z was motd no boot was opened, glad of that i had 2 oz of coke in there :smash:

Cheers Clarkey,

It does tend to rattle a bit. How do I go about lowering it?

My Xantia passed it MOT today, and the only preparation was a trip to the carwash, so they could tell what colour it was !

I am pleased to say that after exactly £6.56p of my hard earned and thanks to a little advise from you lot on here my Zed is now legal again  Since hitting the dog in my daily drive I have not had one car that is strictly speaking road legal so its good to be back!

I'm glad my Zed is now safe to drive now I can get my boot open without the help of my girlfriend!:D What a bunch of :xxx: they were at Motest. They even made me wait 2 hours for the car to have its retest and would not allow me to go home cos they were "short staffed!"...........and thats my problem because!!!??? :slap:

Anyway, just glad its over for another year! :)
