god a '00 328ci courtesy car from the garage at the moment, good god, for a supposedly "sporty" car its soooooo slooooooow, must have got used to the 280BHP thing too much, the zed was quick, the M3 not quite so but still fun, the 328 is a complete dog, takes FOREVER get get the revs up high when accelerating and the "switchtronic" auto/manual thing its got is the biggest pile of crap I have ever used, would warn anybody off owning one of these heaps... its shit...

The 328 is sh1t because you didn't like the gear box (there is a normal manual version too) and didn't give you the delayed torque delivery of a turbo car?

My mate has a e36 328i auto which i drove and it was a nice car, yep its not as fast as the zed but it was still quick.

the delayed torque thing (or the bit that shoves you into your seat as I call it :) ) is missing, same with the M3 but I can forgive it for that... it just seems to slow revving... a manual would be better, the gearbox is pretty poo on it... makes me realise how damn good the auto box is in the zed..

its an e46 so a fair bit heavier than the e36 so possibly explains the sluggishness...

possibly a little harsh last night, got in from a longish drive with dry roads and no other cars around and was just a bit let down! :)

I'll get back in my box now!

I would say it was the gearbox too - we had a '54 plate 325i coupe for a bit, but it had an auto box and it felt PAINFULLY slow, drove a manual version a few weeks later and that was loads of fun :D (not Z fun, but fun anyhoo ;))

I regularly have a gander at the Bimmer dealer in Reading on my way to work, was quite surprised at how much a used BM is to be honest. Not as expensive as I thought.

Some nice soft tops on the forecourt, 330Ci for about 20K...not bad and in mint condition aswell but don't ask me what year as I haven't got a sodding clue how the new double letter reg plates work!

them 328s iv seen worse but to be fair there never going to compete against a performance car, there more for the execs
