The company who are interested in buying the place where I work, have been given untill the end of April to make their final decission as to whether they are or not. Although we expect that they'll be given another four weeks :rolleyes:

Back in November 2004 we were told that we, originally, had a guaranteed job untill the end of March this year. Now due to this interest from this other company, this was extended untill they decide 'Yay or Nay'. At the end of February this year, we were given a 'Letter Of Pending Redundency', which basically means none of us can apply for a loan, buy a car on HP, obtain a new mortgage etc!!!

Our lives have been on-hold since November, which has been a right pain in the ar5e!!

Also we didn't get a pay rise last year (company/world wide) and it isnt looking fantastic for one this year either :xxx:

If this other company drops out at the end of the time, then there will defenatley be redundencies, of which I beleive I'll be one.

The future is not bright, the future isnt Orange (well my mobile is ;) )........

I wonder what'll get sold first.......................

 

 

 

It's looking like the house, no way am I parting with the Zed (Prob wouldn't get a decent price for it anyway :rolleyes: ) At least I can (hopfully) go and live at my dads house.

:( Sorry to hear this bud, is there no chance of you going to another firm before all this happens, get in there first and don't wait for the others to be made redundant and then there will be lots looking for the same job.....just a thought fella.

Sorry to hear your story. I'm in a similar boat as the place I work at has been sold to new owners three times in the last 18 months! They've cut the company work force down from around 400 to around 50!! :xxx: :wack:

 

New blood do some STUPID things to 'stamp their mark' though*, so you might be as well off looking for something now so you can go straight to it if they do make you redundant (if it gets bought do you get transferred under TUPE?) I guess it depends on how much redundancy you are entitled to.

I don't wana leave early, because if I do get made redundent, then I'm on for a good package, the money would last me for around 7 months, which in worst case I should be able to get another job within this industry.

 

I'm not going to let it get me down (yeah i am p155ed off about it) it's just so annoying not being able to do anything at the moment.

This is also why you wont be seeing me at any of the meets/shows, apart from JAPS and JAE, as I cant guarantee to be able to fuel her :cry:

 

On the up side, if all goes according to plan, and I stay here, then I'll be moving over to Melton and getting rid of the Escort.... The Zed will then be my daily driver :D

Blimey, things ain't looking rosey for us lot are they?!? I'm self employed, but contract to one company and they are being a real PITA at the moment, so I'm looking elsewhere for work/employment - trouble is, there is no way I can earn anything like the sort of money I have been earning in another industry, so I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place.

 

The upshot of it all is, one job I am looking into involves a lot of driving and the company offer a VERY generous car allowance 'cos the directors are all petrol heads and like their reps to have nice motors (they drive Ferrari's, Bentley's, Lambo's etc.!):D
