Hi peebs, my MOT is due end of month and just wanted a guide on what to check in preperation.

 

So far i have done the following

 

Checked all bulbs

Checked Tyres

Checked Brake Discs

Installed read Fog light

Replace Wiper Blades

 

Anything else i need to do so i dont fail on something silly?

Empty the ashtray :D

Prehaps all the rubber boot joints...they always pick these up :(

My biggest worry is my cars smoking issue, it only smokes on idle if you start her up less that 5 mins after you have switched off a warm engine, leave he for longer or start from cold and no smoke. But im sure the engine is fired up several times whhile at the mot station. What i could do is leave my car at my mums overnight as she live 2 mins from the mot place, then she wont get warm enough to smoke.

My MOT preperation runs to checking I have the money in my pocket!!

Yep already raised my credit card limits in advance lol

There is a website somewhere that details all the requirements of the MOT, so you can do a pre-test of your own. Can´t remember it, but a search should turn it up, may even be listed on my site somewhere.

If you still got the Cats in then make sure she has had a damm good run before the test as the emmisions are a lot lower when they are hot.....dont ask why they just are :D

leave your air con on full blast to keep the throttle going this usually stops mine from smoking when marm

Darn power steering fluid leak is a fail, noticed mine has a very very slight leak from the pipe the come off the bottom of the PS reservior

They catalyze an endothermic reaction so the more heat available the more reactions can occur / second therefore the emmisions are reduced quicker :D bit of science for ya ;)

still the rad mate, waiting for a new one, but wife booked a stupid family thing i could not get out of either so was unable to attend anyway. I wont be missing anymore. Ill call you about the offer on the MOT etc mate.
