Bought one of theese little beauties today,,petrol of course, no girls stuff..18" chain, 42cc...savage little thing..makes me really nervous to use it...lots of respect... (lets face it, my car cant fell a tree at 30 mph but this little lightweight saw can!!!).(No, I dont have it in for trees :hyper: ) so I got to thinking...Whats the worst power tool u ever used....Me, Drilled through my hand, nearly lost a finger to a circular saw...you know how it is.

What would be interesting is to see what injuries we have survived?

hmmm I LOVE my chainsaw its great, its only crap 14" bar on it but its grrrreat fun... back in the mists of time I owned a paintball site and used to chop shit up all the time! very satisfying, also bloody dangerous, isnt a tree surgeon one of the most dangerous occupations (after fisherman?)

apparently george w bush chainsaws trees on his ranch for fun to relax... :D

LOL can you tell i have a 'thing' for big powertools? :x

stihl ones are the mutts nuts, summer job as a lad was a gardener and the miserable git i worked for would never let me play with the GOOD toys.. :D probably for the best as I'd probably have made myself a little shorter in one leg.. !!

Has anybody seen those V6 and V8 chainsaws in the states? I saw a video a while back and they cut through a HUGE tree in a matter of seconds! Il try and dig out the video..

That engine is what powers most cheap chinese imported MINIMOTOS!!

Anyway, Injuries....

I drilled into my write with a brand new drill bit that was in an air drill at the time, so spinning nice and fast....

I nearly crapped myself, felt sick and couldnt look!! (pussy!!)

walls weren't being sprayed, so it wasnt that bad but wasnt nice!!

Does using a car to break your nose count!! (hit tree at 70!)

yeah but bugger sitting onthe saw though!!! LOL

I have 4 inch jamb saw, thats like an angle grinder but with a 64 teeth saw on it, its used for cutting the bottoms off architraves so you can slide laminate or solid wood flooring underneath for a neat finish, last year it slipped and went through my leg, no pain, not much blood at the time, it was in the fleshy part about 2 inches above the knee, i remember looking down and thinking what the hell is that white thing.....it was my bone!! 34 internal stitches and 32 external. 2 days later it was back to work, (no rest for the wicked and the self employed!) then it started bleeding!! Have to use the saw virtualy every day and i still cringe whenever i switch it on!

When I was young my dad sent me up a ladder with a chainsaw to cut a branch off a tree.

I didn't like it cos it was so noisy (soft lad!).

I could only reach the branch by standing on the top of the ladder and reaching up with the chainsaw in one hand.

When it had cut through the branch nothing was supporing it and it swung down and missed my leg by a few inches - almost nasty but not quite.

I hate chainsaws - always terrified the chain will snap and cut my face in half. I'm paranoid / a wuss!!!

I remember a guy on the news last year who was up a tree cutting a branch off with his chainsaw...

Fell off the ladder and landed on his wife, removing her head in the process.

I heard about that too, fvcking grim :hurl:

sure i saw some video of a guy who not long ago strapped a V6 engine and a 48" chainsaw together - cut through a tree with 4ft diameter in 2 1/2 seconds or something equally ridiculous!

I haven't hurt myself badly yet (my brother was angry at me once and hit my back with a hatchett, but luckily he's weak and it was ok), I did lie down on a soldering iron a few weeks back though if that counts. Wouldn't be so bad but I holed my jeans in the process.

you live and learn!! :D

Im a ex professional tree feller, I have felled around a million tree's in the commercial conifer forests here, I used to just fell them for a machine, this was before the times of machines that could fell for themselves, I used to go in and knock down sometimes 10,000 tree's in a week, and the machine would come in and take the branches off and cross cut them to required sizes, ive even been on TV doing a accuracy felling demonstration.

I used to love it if I got a strong tail wind as you didnt even need to bother with the (dob cut) (directional cut) just nicked the front of the tree and straight through from the back.

Also put the saw into my shin one day and earned myself 1 week in hospital and 6 weeks off work GREAT !!!!!!!

I used solely husqvarna saws, 254xp and laterally 262xp's fantastic saws.
