Ok, so if you have a perfectly healthy Jap spec Manual to start with then add the following mods;

Straight through from maniflold de-cat exhaust

Chip

HKS Induction

Boost controller (18psi)

Bleed valves

Would you say it was around 450 brake?

I wouldn't think it would be that much, but there is one up for sale near me where the owner reckons "it's around 450"

Well I'm gonna go take a look, and having only just got rid of mine I should be able to tell a huge difference right? I'm hoping there is some element of truth, but I know you have to be wary of owners trying to sell "adding on bhp" to make it sound better...

Just wondered what the thoughts of all the engine tuners out there was because to be honest the standard 280/300 bhp would be enough for me, but having a few extra gee gee's never hurt anyone did it?

Thanks guys :)

No Chance, if you push 18 PSI be prepared to say bye bye to your engine. The mod list with 14 PSI usually see's about 350 on the dyno.

Thanks Chris, just what I thought, I was thinking the same thing with the 18psi thing. I would have thought bigger turbos or strengthened internals would have been required for something like that, after reading what you guys have done to yours. I think I'll give this one a miss.

Sure that won't make 450 brake with those mods. I'm not an engine tuner or anything like that but I would guess around 360 ish (sure someone else knows better)

Running 18psi seems to be running on the ragged edge to me as well. If it has stock tubs then I think they are at their maximum around 16psi. I am only running 14psi on standard tubs and I wouldn't like to go much higher TBH.

Still worth a look. Just get the engine checked out reallly well especially if he really has been running 18psi for some time.

have a look in our dyno section, SMW1 & jaffa have about the highest bhp on a stock engine & tubs that i know of at around 420ish bhp (@ the crank) IIRC

Hmm. I think you're advice is good there, I mean he may just be saying 18 psi because it has a boost controller and that's what it's capable of, but only running 12/14 or something like that. I'll still go, and ask him how long it has been running on 18 psi...

Thanks for the feedback, what a great forum! :hyper:

beware of someone using bleed valves and a boost controller...

best thing is to get someone on here who's upped the boost to take you for a spin. if you've not felt the difference you wouldn't be able to tell between 350 and 450 anyway!

ps I got about 420 crank bhp at 1 bar of boost (14.7psi)

why would you fit bleed valves and boost controller its one or the other both and those tubbies will go boom and the engine probably
