Where has the general election thread gone? I was typing a long reply and when i submitted it, the thread was gone :( Anyway - my reply was
Someone had the thesaurus out this afternoon
Very vaid points though, the UKIP wouldn't work as a political party, they just want to isolate the UK from Europe for the purposes of protecting the Pound Sterling. In fact European trade is doing us the world of good, except the subsidies which we have to pay into "the kitty" for redistribution to Spain.
Although New Labour has the leadership potential, their methods are questionable and Tony Blair's agenda also. The Tories arn't really an option, Howard doesn't have leadership potential at all and would cripple under pressure. Tony isn't much better at dealing with pressure, but he is very good at taxing us into oblivion.
Under the Tories in 1997 on average out of every £1 we earn we have around 42p to spend (after tax, council tax, NI, VAT, fuel duty, tobacco duty, alcohol duty etc. Under the current Labour government we now have 22p to spend which means we actually spend 20% of our income the rest goes to the government, and then onto other parties (schools, hospitals, roads, parasites etc.) so who would we be better off with (considering tories don't want to reduce tax as such)? Tough call !
