Just been out in an Evo 8 320 MR, and although unbelievably quick (within the limits of the guy driving), the owner gets around 14mpg :(

 

When I had my zed I had great plasure in rubbing into my boss that his Evo 6 did 14 mpg and was producing 280 bhp and my ZX ran 365bhp and returned 21mpg and did 180 mph every day.

 

He gave me blank looks (with his square jaw and mullett) LOL

 

I wouldn't mind an Evo but I am concerned at the ****y fuel economy. If modded S13's/S14's (200sx) can produce 300bhp and give 27mpg, there's something wrong in the mapping on the evo. Unless Mitsubishi are playing it really safe with wacky size injectors.

 

This is one of life's mysteries that I want to unravel!!

Now the Evo is one hell of a car from A-B I have licked around roundabouts at 70mph without a problem,but at the end of the day not keen on the shape;)

I can understand that. Not only do the Evos have dodgy fuel economy they have a small fueld tank. So you end up spending most of your time in the gas station.

 

Now the Evo is one hell of a car from A-B I have licked around roundabouts at 70mph without a problem,but at the end of the day not keen on the shape;)

 

I like the shape of the 8, nice 'n' angry!! I guess you were in a Scooby when you did the Evo round the roundabout ;) . Or the Evo driver was some bender boy who doesn't know what he's got!!

 

From my experience 4wd wins hands down on the twisties. I know ( and my Scooby/Evo pals know) that the RWD 400bhp wins on the wide straits. :rofl:

Poor fuel consumption on EVOs could be down to 4WD and low gearing.

A mate had a VII and a set of (genuine) brake pads was £250!

Still a great car - fuel consumption is barely relevant compared to other running costs unless you do big miles.

Fookin el Tony, get your arse back in a Zed pronto :D

TBH the fuel comsumption didn't seem bad on the Evo Tony had off me, but it may have been mapped that bit better than a standard one as it's hiding a rather tasty Blitz Access ECU in its innards! ;)

Round my way "car licking" means to beat the other car. I need a universal translator I think, or to be more sober when I post :wack: Loads of people have got Scoob's and Evo's but there is only a very small percentage that know how to drive them.

 

Agree with you on the shape of the Evo 7, the 8's got a nicer more chunkier shape though. Not as sleek and curvey as the Zed most of the girls at my work preferred the Zed to my bosses Evo 6 and my new Civic. :p

The Liner is doing fine it is now pushing 600BHP, I drive it every day and the most I have had out of it so far is 191mph on my Roadangel but ran out of space due to some bloke pulling out in front of me about 1/2 a mile ahead so I had to hit the stoppers a bit quick. I did the 1/4 mile in 11.99 at the Pod this summer. Hows yours going mate ? Good I hope ? are you running at 10 of the best next year ???

Another £500 on twin pumps and a swirl pot and we should be over 600rwhp I am already 600 at the fly and it is wasting Noble M12,Beema M5 and my good old EXUP 1000 with ease,can wait to shock a big powered Skyline I am sure I will find one soon;)

Mine has been dynoed and it produced 602BHP at the Flywheel, I am running HKS 2530's I havn't run my car at full boost yet I tend to keep it at around 1.4 bar and still haven't got around to running race fuel yet but I will next year.
