Hi I went down to matchums with my mate last weekend his car was in the sound off, anyway, there was a 300zx down there, i got talking to him and he said he had 150 shot of NOS going through the car was he talking shit or is it possible for our cars to take that. he said he was nocking out sumthing in the 500hp could this be or not..............................

apart from the Nos hoses the rest looked standerd but like you said its wats inside, wat would you have to do to run that power of nos or that power at all.

I am no techy but I would imagine to run it with a 150 shot of NOS more than half a dozen or so times he would need forged internals, uprated clutch, maybe a gearbox tweak plus all the usual mods, induction etc.

When most ppl talk about nitrous and say a 150 shot, it's really more like 70. The number on the jet will be a 150 shot jet, which usually equates to just under half that result of HP depending on the engine. On my nitrous kit I had a 120 shot, which was more like 55hp so i reffered to it as a 55/60 shot of nitrous.

 

Most ppl who are boy racers who have nitrous fitted will always quote the Jet size as the 'shot'

 

The fuel jets are what you get, so if its dia is 80 it is an 80, thats where I think ppl who arn't boy racers / ricers get it confused.

 

A 150 on a Z engine should be fine. As long as it was pretty stock and not already running too silly boost etc. You could still use it on a stock engine running around 15psi, but I wouldn't recomend it too often, last person I knew that did, ended up loosing his autobox very quickly.

500bhp? doub't that, was it a stock engine? or didn't you find out? in theory, a bar of boost on a stock engine mapped, with a 150 shot of nos could probably get close to 400. I wouldn't think that could be used all the time, but the occasional blast should be ok.

he said he was going to japfest anyway so hopefully we can find out, my mate just told me when i went to look at the 200sx's and he stayed to talk to him, aparently he was going to race rocket ronny but ronney backed out, i am still laughing about it now, i really wish i was there for that, i would have ripped him to bits laughing.

 

does anyone know who this bloke is, is he on this site, he's only a young lad about 22.
