nah its a copy of Ring (Jappo version obviously!) which although the storyline's a little harder to follow I think is a better film. I dont think there are any Japanese horror films where the baddie isn't a young girl in a white kimono with long black hair over her face and big scaaary eyes.

Play PROJECT ZERO on the PS2 - now THAT is SCARY SH!T

Japanese cinema has also produced the best line in OTT gore / horror movies since the g(l)ory days of the Italians in the 70s / early 80s.

Come on mate, learn to know your Japanese horror movies :smash: . The grudge was originally known as "Ju-On" in Japan. It had nothing to do with The Ring.(now I sound like such a nerd!):D

For what is essentially a Haunted House movie I thought it was excellent. I have never seen a film which has had me scared for almost the whole duration.

Must see The Ring 2 next.

Did anyone else think the girl who lives in the well is a dead ringer for Alanis Morissette?

lol must admit Justin i must have skipped Japanese Horror class :D

i know the stories are different but its the long-haired scary girl thing that theyve got in common. I have to say I thought the Grudge was good, amongst a lot of rubbish around at the moment. Cant wait to see The Ring 2. Do you agree that "The Ring" (US-spec) was both "Ring" and "Ring 2" (JDM) put together? Wonder what The Ring 2 will have...

Getting even more nerdy about it, Ju-on: The Grudge is actually part 3 in the series. Ju-on: The Curse being part one - a straight-to-video movie, itself being the follow up to a made-for-TV episode.

I do agree with you on that mate. Who knows what Tinseltown is going to do with the second one. As long as its as good as the first I will be happy.

If anyone wants to see a good film at the mo then go and see Bruce Willis' new one "Hostage." Was excellent, I might even go as far to say it was better than the Die Hard Films.

I saw 'Clockwork Orange' and 'The Wicker Man' the other weekend.

Both top, old, NASTY films.

Also a fan of Hong Kong, kung fu, horror-commedy like Tsui Hark stuff. Zu Warriors from the Magic Mountain.

Yup, remakes aplenty on the way, including Evil Dead and Suspiria...

Wicker Man is a good film but not really 'scary' in that respect - seems like a 1970's version of the League of Gentlemen :)
