Toying with the idea of developing a shopping site for 300zx enthusiasts. Ive figured out how to create the site up to the point of the worldpay/paypal stuff, and am looking into developing something that benefits traders and owners alike, something "central" that provides a sort of 'bulk buy' letsbuyit type facility but also a central point for redirecting/purchasing the items sold by traders...traders could offer bulk deals and generate business for themselves, customers would reap the rewards of the bulk purchase?

 

As an owner always looking to keep costs as low as possible but be creative, things like the chroming of inserts etc for some might seem a bridge too far because they dont know where to go to get it done, if we can entice traders (not just the ones on here) to be attracted to to bulk sets of work such as this it might be useful? At the very least, maybe an online payment agency service for the various traders on here would be of benefit?

I did produce one using os-commerce (free to download) but had no time to finish it off. However, I do think someone has already beaten us to it (also using oscommerce) as I did come across it on here. (Can't remember the URL, sorry).

 

You could also look at zencart. Both are open source so easy to manipulate or get help from Forums.

 

I currently run a classifieds website (http://www.bridgend-classifieds.co.uk) and would be happy to include a section for buying and selling Zed parts. Let me know what you think?

Yeah ive seen some of the shopping cart sites that you can get for free. Only thing I am thinking about is doing it in a technology i can support myself and maintain and therefore add things to easily myself, although given enough time im sure i could do it the 'freebie' way as well i just prefer to use what i already know and the newer technologies.. .NET for instance. Ill probably mock something out and put it up somewhere for people to look at, maybe traders will buy into it that way...a picture is worth a thousand...as they say.
