Shocking..

Well nearly kissed my arse goodbye tonight,

result of ****ing around with open powersupplies -

electrical burns to one hand, laceration to the other,

my breaker didn't trip either which concerns me, its set to 30miliamps, I think i may have discharged a large capacitor across my hands whilst it was plugged into the mains, stupid i know, but its something i've done 100's of times, next time i'll be more careful.

1st electric shock though, perked me up a bit :D, and at least all the kit still works lol

Yeah, well if you were drinking Scrumpy Jack at the time as well it's hardly surprising -- that stuff is bad news. ;)

Ok...dumbass question time...... Why do you get cuts from an electric shock???? How??? Is it the electric spark eroding you away??? lol....

Rob

WTF>?

Anyways, just incase random ppl do a search on this site in a years time, and decided go out and superglue their wounds its not a good idea lol.

LOL :D

Rob

no, the cut is from muscle contractions clamping onto the chassis of the case i was holding, the entry wound is a burn on my other thumb, but its rather pathetic

my dad had a shock off of unfused 3 phase once and that literlly blew a hole in one hand where it entered and another in his other hand where it exited, its basically like welding but with body parts

Right I understand now......

440v three phase is nothing to play around with. Plenty of amps, plenty of volts, deadly combination.

Glad you and your dad are still here to tell your tales mate.

I watched a Mythbusters recently, they were testing the theory of dropping something electrical in the bath and getting electrocuted. They said 7ma was enough to stop your heart  so 30ma is way ott to kill you..........

thats across your heart though, skin is an ok insulator, its once you start getting shocked inside that layer that serious problems can occur,

me and my dad was speaking about his shock today, he doesn't know why he isn't dead (but then again there are lots of incidents in his life where he should have died lol)

if your breaker didnt trip, judging by the fact its set to 30ma indicates its an Earth leakage curcuit breaker, do even though you electricuted youself across a capacitor the current never went to earth, hence the the breaker didnt trip. even an over current breaker wouldnt help you in this case as it was the capacitor discharging, you werent drawing current from the mains.

...skin is an ok insulator...

FFS LOL.......... is this supposed to make me feel safer or something??? :D :D

Rob.
