got a j-spec twin turbo that is developing a propshaft vibration. seems to be worse when cold.

is the prop center bearing still available and is it the same part as uk spec cars?

where do i get them, nissan? or does someone else do them. May have a bash myself.

Prop Shafts are a hassle. Don't use a one piece prop as there is a problem to do with the weight of the revolving bits. You can get prop shaft centre bearing for about £120, but while you have the prop shaft off, take it to get serviced and balanced. It's not a difficult job if you have a ramp, If you don't, don't even try it

have you used them before? ...If not, then I hope they have 300zx experience....most Dealership mechanics contain one senior mechanic and a group of Monkeys. All of which know how to service a Micra and have'nt even heard of a 300zx.

 

Its quite worrying when you go there for parts and they want to know if its a Diesel or a Petrol :headvswal

I fitted one a month or so back, for 180, I am sooo cheap.lol. You can do it without a ram, but thereis a trick to it :)

I changed my complete prop (& CSB) during an auto to manual conversion, I also changed the gearbox mounting but it didn't solve my prop vibration. It quietens down after it warms up so I'm wondering if the hookes joint might be too tight when cold as I can't see that it could be out of balance because I replaced the whole unit as one. Have you checked the CSB for the usual cracks?

Ive looked at the center bearing and the joint seems to be hanging low in the rubber part of the bearing.

ive heard of people doing a lot of work in this area, all to no avail

it definetly improves when the car is warmed up

GGreddy are bringing out a one piece steel prop for around £320

Just dont want to do the wrong thing and still have the problem!

CSB - Centre Support Bearing. Usually you also get a clunking noise on taking up drive when they're damaged too.

no theres definately no clunking. Just a bad vibe at around 40MPH decreasing with speed and temp.

The Prop Centre Bearing Is The Right Way To Go, But I Recommend You Also Change The Rear Gearbox Mounting (not Expensive), As They Get A Little Soft And Cause The Tail End Of The Box To Drop A Couple Of Degrees Or So.

This Alters The Angles Related To The Prop Shaft And Can Add To The Vibes Already Present.

I Did These Jobs On My 92 Model And It Sorted All The Vibes
