Does it WORK???...Water/Methanol injection

Featured Replies

defiantly works but only if the water/methanol is atomised, i doubt you would need it unless you were running very high boost

Okeley dokely....Wouldnt the kit atomise it then?

I only run 15psi so what kind of boost we talkin before its worth gettin?...Big Boost...Big Tubs???

Thanks

no idea about the specific kit, just giving general advice. water helps prevent detonation and pinking by reducing combustion temperatures. not sure if methanol has any other effect

theres no harm in using it at 15psi, u dnt really NEED it tho. would be more useful with bigger tubs, injectors, advanced timing.

check out the resources link here for more info on water injection...

Some say water injection is just a "Good Idea" as it looks after the engine, and the MEthanol can add HP, some say 50BHP. I am doing mine when I have fixed my big end. I have got the kit.....and I am not running massive boost either...

hmmm id always be worried about it packing up or running out of water then....BOOOOM.

I suppose the safe way would be to map the car without water injection, then use it as a kind of extra hand, but this defeats the object of having it in the first place and that is that you can run more boost/ leaner mix without det.

I agree in having the water as an extra safety measure, this is what I intend on doing. (And if I cant check the water level then thats my fault). And if adding methanol or some other mixtures adds some HP then thats also my aim.

BTBH, more than anything I just fancied doing it to see.

Have a look at http://www.nissanperformancemag.com

They fitted one of these kits to their project Z in Jan 2004 and have a write up on line (Under archived projects). Not the most informative article but will give you some info on the install and benefits.
