I'm not the post whore I used to be on here anymore, but I'm about to be even more quiet as I'm off to Thailand for 3 weeks on Saturday! :hyper: :hyper: It will be such a shame to leave the grey skies and snow behind, but I guess I'll just have to put up with 35C and sunshine!! :mac1:

Initially going to Bangkok for a quick look around at the restaurants serving DOG, and also a quick peek at the 'flesh-pots', then off to Chiang Mai, Ko Samui and possibly Ko Si Chang before popping down to Malaysia for Visa reasons.

Anyone got any other recommendations as to where to visit? (trying to stick to the non-malaria East Coast if possible) :)

Ahhhh bless what a sweety

Thinking about Storm and Trin and keeping your thoughts pure after the pics they've posted.....? Do me a favour ;);):D

I'm planning a three week trip to that area later this year (November) so I'd really appreciate any tips as to where to go.

A mate suggested visting East Malaysia (on the island of Borneo) as the jungle's much better than north Thailand and said mainland Malaysia and Sinapore are great too. I was thinking about Bali as well.

I'd be really interested to hear what you enjoyed though.

Oh and my mate said if you're in Bangkok, you should have a meal in the 'Oriental Hotel'. It's one of the best restaurants in the world apparently and not too expensive.

Just got back a few weeks ago from my 2nd visit :D Def recommend Pattaya if you enjoy the night life but not entirely suitable for couples. 2.5 hours from bangkok (taxi or coach) Coach cost 150Bt = £2 lol

If you havent been before I recommend going to the Sukhumvit area in Bangkok. Loads of night life and good restaurants etc. We stayed in Soi Cowboy (girlie area) in the Penny black - open till late with bar and pool tables - 1000bt a night - like a 4* hotel.

Chaing Mai is great for trekking, elephant riding, shows etc, also did a days class 4+ white water rapids - great fun. We stayed at the Chiang Mai Gate good hotel for 850 a night. Also did Samui stayed at Chaweng Gardens - great location in central Chaweng not bad for 1000bt a night. Recommend the Green Mango night club (opposite the hotel on Soi Green Mango) and the Reggee bar (short taxi ride).

In Pattaya you can hire a Yamaha R1 for £15 a day, but I stuck to a Honda CBR400R as I don't ride bikes often - cost f*** all. Also there is a great karting track near by. We stayed some road next to Soi 7 just off Beach Road.

How you getting about? Overnight sleeper train is great for up north and fly the rest.

Have a great time I know I did ;)

Oh and make sure you have a bowl of tom yam gung (hot shrimp soup) its amazing :D
