Hi Guys,

Was going to opt for a straight through pipe instead of replacing my cats, as they are a bit rattly on the M.

Anyone got any ideas of how to get round that stupid MOT thing :nono: , other than putting the cats back on?

You can get low resistance Performance cats. A comprimise between removing the cats and staying legal.

Its a legal requirement for the car to actually be fitted with them, so they really do have to be there for the Mot. Gutting them is an option, as long as it still met emissions.

You probably already done the research, but if not then check the M3 benefits from decatting. as the ones fitted to my Bmw 535i are already low resistance performance cats as standard, and decatting destroys low end torque becuase of lack of back pressure.

i might be wrong but i though pre-'94 you didnt need them

Regards,

alex

backhand the MOT chap lets face it anyone who thinks money doesnt talk is living in cuckoo land.

Unless ofcourse you have 5 mill in the bank. then thats different!

But I doubt the MOT tester falls into this perspective.

Since when was low end torque improved by a restrictive exhaust ? This is no 2-stroke !

umm, I contacted DVLA about this a while ago - apparently the 300ZX isnt ever listed as having cats so they're not tested. My K reg went straight through without them :)

Guys, dont forget Steve-o does'nt have a Zed anymore, and is asking about his Bmw M3.

a NA exhaust design is critical and requires/benefits from a certain amount of back pressure, unlike Turbo exhausts.
