Just wanted to post a message to say thanks very muchly to Bob over at Safe and Sounds in Chester. He has spent the last week tinkering with my 'big red shed' (thats what the missus calls it), and getting it running properly after weeks of me tearing my hair out trying to do the same myself. This in addition to sorting me out with a letter for my insurers about my CAT1 alarm system a few weeks ago.

It now works! the ignition is working properly now (the engine will switch off with the key rather than me popping the bonnet and yanking fuses). As well as this he fitted some new spark plugs that I bought, repaired my PTU and put the interior back together which was all in the back seat!

Although the work Bob and his sidekick have done has highlighted some things I need to get sorted out, the car now goes like stink :hyper: .I've not had much chance to drive the car since I bought it and my limited use had satisfied me that the car was rapid, but after Bobs played with it its now scary fast!!! I've never been in a car as quick, never mind owned one.

Anyway, enough rambling. I just thought I would like to publicly thank Bob and would recommend his company to anyone. Even though Alarms and ICE appear to be the main part of the business, they are not afraid to pop a bonnet and get stuck in. With 300zx's you have to be a brave man to do that! He is a true enthusiast (as some of the older members on this site would already know).

Also, if it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't have known about Safe and Sounds being on my doorstep. I think its about time I blew the dust off my wallet and coughed up £20 to join ;)

Hi,

It turned out the ecu was knackered and so when you switched the ignition off, there was still a current going to the egi relay from the ecu. I got a 2nd hand ecu from one of the guys on here, changed it over and its now ok.

I'm sure I've since read that if you charge the battery on the ZX with it still connected, it can damage the ecu. I had a look inside the old ecu after and nothing was obviously burnt out but it doesn't work properly any more.

Hope this helps...

Yeah, Bob's a top bloke ;)

OMG........................he's alive !!!!!!

Where the hell have you been mate?
