PC Arcade emulators: Which Joystick?

After finally figuring out how to sort an emulator for the C64 and Amiga platforms I've been bitten by the bug and have added ones for MAME, Final Burn (alpha), Neo-Geo and SNES. :hyper:

The downside is that I'm having to contol everything via the keyboard as I don't have a games controller (up till now I only used my PS2 for games).

After having a look at the controllers out there I wondered if anyone on here can recommend a decent one (as from my last post on the subject I know there are a few guys into this!). Something that ideally has lots of assignable buttons and if possible an "old skool" arcade joystick that can take a battering! ;) :D

Cheers,

Leigh.

there should be plenty of gamepads out there Leigh - I've got a "wild things" gamepad which is almost identical to the PS2 controller - four buttons on front, four on shoulders, two in centre, directional pad. not so sure about the joysticks tho - ive still got my original one from my Atari 400!!!

It's a bit on the pricey side so I might still shop around but that is, as Pop Larkin would say, perfick! :D

TBH it's given me a few ideas. After Dave C talking about building an arcade console I keep looking at the spare 19" Iiyama monitor I've got that's not doing anything and wondering if that, plus that controller, plus whatever other computer stuff I'd need couldn't be made into a unit just for arcade/console games. Trouble is I wouldn't know what boards/drives/chips I'd need to buy to do the job! Damn my luddite heritage! ;)

Me too :D

I thought I was the only one who had one of these plastic keyboard wonders
