Right...Im getting ECU Error Code34 - Det Sensor circuit (Det sensor or Wiring harness failed)

So..I've decided to bypass it becuase :

a. "Most" Det damage is done above 3k, but the stock sensor only works under 3k its usefullness is limited.

b. I always run Optimax. (So less likely to ever get Detonation)

c. Im on stock boost( So less likely to ever get Detonation)

d. I cant afford the massive job of having the det sensor replaced

e. Will get it replaced if I ever need an engine out job done.

So following these instructions :

http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/detonationSensor/detonationSensor.html

I need a 1 megohm resistor. Not knowing sod-all about resistors, I'm Looking on Maplin.co.uk but Im not sure what Im looking for. :headvswal

is a 1m† Low Noise metal film High Voltage Resistor what I need ? (does m† mean megaohm?)

or can somebody who is in the know point me at the right one here :

http://www.maplin.co.uk/search.aspx?criteria=resistor&menu=3&doy=23m2

Cheers :D

Make sure you have check your car fully to see why it thinks it is detonating.

Have you checked the timing? Have you done a mode II ECU check to see if the O2 sensors are reading correctly? Do you have an air leak?

Code 34 means the circuit for the Det sensor has failed (either sensor has failed, or the wiring harness). Thats different from sensing detonation.

I had a 34 code I used a 1 meg resistor

never had anymore problems ;)

I will see if I can get one from work and send it to you if you want. I will let you know if i can get it tomorrow.

Eddie

clean the det plugs first

worked for me

steve

mine was like that, det sensor f*cked, runs fine with the resistor in.and been like it for over a year now and no probs

Thanks Eddie, that would be great if you have one :D

Had the same problem and went through the whole dilema of fitting a resister for a while but decided the best best is to get it fixed.....

the det sensor is there for a reason otherwise they wouldn't have bothered putting it on in the first place.

You could be fine for the rest of the life of the car very likely but for peace of mind and never having to say "*****cks wish i fixed it now" i would get it sorted.

Ryan at Z-Tech did a sterling job fixing mine although i needed more boost so like most if you are going to uprate it, best to have the car working in perfect order first....................

Hi legrath

I can get you one from work.

I will post it to you if you PM me your address
