I'd love a boat,

£3-4000 sounds a pretty good price,

Luckily as a Zed owner, you're well used to chucking petrol away!!, those babies drink fuel for fun!!

Take a look here,,,,,,,,, 10 year old Fletchers going for £5000+

LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY!! :hyper: :hyper:

OH yeah, and hope you have big arms, Outboards are often pretty heavy to steer......

Steve

Well you got me going now!!!!!!

If you tell me the model of both the Fletcher and the Outboard

I can give you some idea on what it is worth.

I started with a Fletcher Arrowbeau with a 3 cylinder

Johnson 70hp some 20 years ago.

The boat you discribe is possibly a Fletcher Arrowbolt with a

Yamaha V6 220 Outboard???

The most important thing is the aplication you want to use it for!

If you think your Zed uses fuel wait till you run that thing!

My current boat is a year 2000 ski Nautique, this has a 5.8 (351cubic inch)

Windsor V8 producing 310hp. This boat is only any use for waterskiing

purposses only and no good on the sea as it has a flat bottom on the

high speed plaining part of the hull, so producing low flat wakes.

Your speed boat however uses a deep vee hull ideal for sea usage

and general fun! If you need purcase advice etc ask for more I

will be more than happy to help

in the meen while cast you eyes over the baby of mine! (next post because i cant find it in my computa

well i know one thing JD'S-Z, You will get to Clacton pretty quick if you use your Blue Z to pull it, and i know someone that can fit a tow bar to your Z :-)

my mates dad had an outboard engine producing 240hp and it flew, sounds like a good deal

Thanks for all your help I will have a word with my guvnor and find a bit more about it.

I'm only looking to have it for a summer then sell it after, if I can get four of me mates to invest in it it should bring the cost down! the price of fuel as stated cant be alot worse than caining the 300 around for a day but then with the boat you can split that fourways.

what about insurance how much would I be looking?

launching fee's

with this size of boat how easy is it to launch on and off the trailer?

me dad has had a 15ft boat and said its a bit big for a beginner. just sounds a good deal if I can use it and get my money back cant go wrong I guess

could even bring it to billing :D

Insurance isn that much on boats. Sounds pretty reasonable. Would be goof for waterskiing off and picnic days.

Where would you use it? On a rough day on the sea i wouldnt want to be in a 20ft fletcher. Iv split my chin open on the dash of our formula on a rough day at sea and that thing weighs atleast 2 tonne.

Weve got a Formula 223ls with a mercruiser inboard, 454 cubic inch, 7.4litre on Windermere, puts out about 375hp IIRC, does 60mph, great fun but iv gone through 100quid of petrol in an afternoon just caning it around.

After the 31st March you cant go over 10mph on lake Windermere, so im guessing the sea would be the only option?

Sounds good though matey, id go for it but i would invest in one of those ship to shore radio walky talky things if your going to be taking it on the sea.

Insurance is best with these companys

R.A Carter Worcester (BWSF System)

Maldon Insurance Shrewsbury

Petrol consumption will be around 15 Gallons per hour at full throttel!!!!

But you dont go that fast all day, so you should get away with £40 to £60 a day

my boat runs on LPG so my costs are about £25 a day depending on usage.

My insurance is £450 a year but thats on value of £22,000 for boat and trailer.

you will need a third party cover policy covering you to £2,000,000 just in

case you run over somebody or crash into some multi million pound gin palace

best of luck and its not to big to start with!! :D

PMSL

Make sure the engine is in good order, the cost of a rebuild makes an engine rebuild on a zed look like change in your pocket. A new 240hp outboard costs around £10,000. You can pick any insurance advert in any of the boating mags. I'm glad you are responsable enough to take out insurance, for the damage you could do to other people, I don't like to think about. Unlike uninsured motorists there is no back up fund to bail you out.

I have a sailing boat only has a 10hp inboard, much more sedate.

I am looking into buying one myself JD;)

My mate Chris who helped us with my Z is looking to sell his speedboat.

I was hoping to buy it myself but my engine work has ruled that out :(

Don't know what make it is but its about 20ft with the biggest outboard you've ever seen.

You would just love it LOL

It's black with "Terminator" down the side in red :D

Does over 70mph I think.
