Having just returned from Norway I had a big pile of mail to open. In it was a letter form my insurance company saying i needed to pay an admin charge of £90 with in 7 days. As I wasnt in the UK to receive the letter or pay the money, they've cancelled my insurance.

So I've now lost £1000 over a petty 90 quid. They wont re-instate my insurance, just keep trying to refer my to the 'quotation team'

This is through no fault of my own or theirs, I'm just highly p***ed off :headvswal

Where do I stand with claiming some or all of my money back???

And advice will be much appreciated

Andrew

I'm pretty sure there's a legal standpoint where if you never saw the letter, then you never received it as such, it's a different matter if you received and ignored it, but you can prove you were out of the country.

if the matter was that grave it should have been sent recorded delivery, so that they were aware if the mail was not delivered for whatever reason, what if it was lost in post? then they have the right to arbitrarily cancel your insurance?.. I don't think so.

So you have to let your car insurers know when you're on holiday in case they send you an admin fee? bs.
