Trim/Rubber repaint - THIS WORKS!

Ok guys sorry I havent posted this sooner, but I have tried the following and it looks flawless!

To redo the plastic type trim around the t-tops etc I have heard of people removing the trim and using a truck bed lining paint to get the textured effect back on their trim, heres what I did:

Purchase a plastic bumper spray in black (I used Dupli-color bumper spray). Mask off the trim either side with automotive masking tape. (Be careful when removing the tape, do it SLOWLY!). Once masked, Spray the paint into a container and use a small brush to apply it to the trim, dont worry about brush marks, because the trim is already textured they wont show. This is alot easier than spraying the trim directly. Takes about 5 mins to dry, looks amazing, can also do it for the panel under the wipers too!

Now, for the rubber parts on top of the door etc, you can use a blackening product such as Mothers Back to Black, but this doesn't last for long, so try this!

Purchase a rubber silicone sealant such as Selleys Window and Windscreen sealant in black. Once again, mask over and under the rubber and this time squeeze some sealant onto a rag and rub in onto the rubber trim. Do this on any rubber parts you want, let it dry for about 5 mins and rub off any excess, dont worry if it shines a bit when putting it on, tends to dry to a nice black matte finish. I cant promise it will work for all of you, depending on products used of course, all I can say is that it worked well for me and is a cheap, good looking solution for bringing your trim back to life!

Good Luck!

No probs guys, I know what its like to have a part of your car you want to get looking good but you dont know where to start. Just remember, peel the masking tape off slowly smile.gif

I used Black self adhesive vinyl to give my trims a new lease of life. No mess when fitting and only took a few hours. When we meet on Sunday you guys can have a look and see it you think it's shit or not. I think it looks ok and was easy to do.
