How old does a car have to be to be tax exempt?

I was trying to figure out how old I'll be when I get free tax for the Zed lol

Tax exemption on cars used to be on cars over 25 years, but IIRC the government decided to make more money on us by making it a fixed point instead of a rolling 25yrs, so it's now only cars manufactured before 1976..

Historic vehicle status is granted to any vehicle MANUFACTURED on or before 31st dec 1972.(Could be registered in early73). You must submit proof to dvla when it was manufactured
