Right I only really ride on a weekend and do the odd trackday (but will be doing lots more this summer). I have a 98 Blade which I acquired very cheaply. Ive had lots of bikes in the past and although a bit twitchy on the road the Blade does come into its own on the track. Question is do I now spend $$ on say ohlins/penske front and rear and upgrade the brake setup or do I buy a newer circa 5.5K litr bike. Chunk, Mr David? Any thoughts? Powers not really an issue as it upto 997 with extras and gets 142 at rear.

Hey Roy!!

There's plenty of good handling mods for the Blade!!

Have you still got the 16" front wheel?

As T-pot says, have a look on his site, there's a good amount of info on there.

Also, I'll have a chat with a mate that races blades, see what he says :D

All the best

Rich

Hmmmm... it sounds great as it is. The 16 inch front isn't as bad as many people say.

I guess you could get a nice 2002 R1 easily for that money and I always liked them loads.

I think you can get parallel GSXR1000s brand new for well under £7K these days.

I think long term you never get back what you spend on mods, so if it was me I'd sell and get a newer bike.

But your is already modded and nicely so so maybe it is worth hanging onto it.

I guess both are good options - but that doesn't help much! I dunno!

Urban tiger, what a bike - I sold mine

Best bike I ever had!!!!!

I wheelied it everywhere :)

I would say keep the blade, I really regret changing mine and although I like the firestorm, its just not a blade. Only one I found twitchy was the one that put me in plaster for 6 weeks:(

I didnt realise there were so many bikers here....

Now come join my bikers site you sod's

Yeah, keep the Blade and tweek the suspension components for the track. I still miss mine after it had a wheelbase reduction performed by a Golf GTi :(

Even better...Buy a MotoXer...Great if you dont value your limbs

Mud,Smell of burnin two-stroke oil,tightly clad women,big air,practise take-out moves and its all legal...Great :hyper:

Roy sell it to me at mates rates then buy a new one bud;)

mod it go scratching on it .........be a hooligan .......start with the best tyres you can afford .....work up from there.........wish id never sold my ZXR600 ninja :((

I think you should sell the Blade and get a GSXR 750 great for track days even standard very adjustable for how you want to set it up. Just a great bike. Not so good 2 up if you do much of that perhaps a GSXR 1000 or an R1.

best bet is one of each

Anyone go to the Ally Pally show?

If it's just for track I'd buy one already modded. it's a pain in the arse havin to strip bodywork etc or face a 5K bill like I did for riding like a tw*t  I wouldn't change mine now but always had blades can't fault em!

Anyone go to the Ally Pally show?

Yep!
