Jap and UK cars are 280bhp from 89 to 99. Only US models were 312BHP.

Law in Japan puts a limit on HP at 280bhp.

aaaaaaaaaaanyway BTTT weren't US models just a straight 300bhp? (and what about UK models? :D )

I thought that the U.S. was a straight 300bhp until I saw the specs differences posted up on TTnet. The Jap and Uk are Identical BHP, so too where all the ones sold in Aus, Newzeland, infact anywhere they have right hand drive. + I believe that the cars sold in Germany + the odd dozen or so sold through rest of Europe, ie left hand drive where as US spec.

Infact as with nearly all jap models sold in Uk. Any differences between UK and Jap models are changed in UK buy official distributers. ie Such as Nissan or Toyota UK.

Now if someone is to prove that i'm talking *****cks as regard the 312bhp figure then I can only tell you thats what I read, but it would make sense and they would just have a L/H and R/H drive assembley lines and pissing about with a R/H loom to accommodate slightly different management would have been a nightmare.

All the Magazines and specs for the Uk Manual 300zx say 300bhp, not 280bhp. It was only after 1996 that it started to become listed as 280bhp.

Does'nt the Auto have smaller Turbo's and slightly less Power ?

I think 1996 is when they changed the law to stop Estate agents telling porky's. Thus rounding HP in mags also became a no no.

The other reason I think what I read is true is because Toyota Had three prodution lines for the Supra. so the none domestic Supras where all 325 BHP which ment that they had more ponys than the US spec Z.

+ (and this is just another stone in the pond of controversy, but I'm sure someone will rise to the bait) The Arab countries (most drive on the left) would not get an inferior car to the great Satan.

Oh yes mate the auto has 3mm smaller Turbos and different cam profiles so as to have more mid range grunt than the manual, to compensate for the difference in power transmition of the boxes.

Same peak power and if both cars were unrestricted the auto had a higher top speed.

firstly people the red on my car, its all there yet needs a good polish and front bumper needs blending.

secoundly i don't think my front bumper is a 99 spec. don't know what it is. so if any1 would like to tell me, then please.

anyway, So my car produces the same bhp as a 1990 (300hp)? in standard form.

is there any 0-60 differences or power differencess, for lwb to swb times.

No idea about your bumper (it was Greg's bumper that we were saying is 99 spec), although looks like the same one on this site http://www.chimera.co.nz/300zx/

the lwb and swb have the same power output, although the SWB is ligher and therefore slightly quicker (about 0.2 secs in the quatermile I think)
