Yes I know  OE gauges and all that, but according to Nissan spec as I understand it we should get about 51- 68 psi, but what should it be on tickover? I understand 3000rpm will give a more accurate or consistent reading, but mine is the nissan standard when its cold when its warm its half that, on tickover there's hardly anything there! I am hoping to locate a pressure gauge and take an accurate reading and also re-seal the pressure switch.

Can you list your pressure readings and while were at it does anyone know what it should be?

cheers chaps

I seem to recollect about 10-12psi per 1000rpm but I could be wrong. Will depend upon many things of course, like oil, temp, gauge etc. The Nissan pumps are not like Ford ones, they do not give high pressures at low rpms.

idle - pretty much nothing on the gauge, 3000rpm, about half way accross the gauge, I don't take any notice of the crappy gauge anyway, if there really was no oil pressure the oil light would come on.

What oil light??

i get 70 psi at 890 rpm with a 5-40 oil then it drops to 25 and rises with load

What oil light??

:D

"Whats that knocking noise dad?"

'Dunno son, can't be the bottom end cos the oil pressure light aint coming on...'

"Oh never mind eh dad, must be normal"

ROFL But really, where is the oil light? I've not got one on mine :S

ok you fookers, theres no oil light, its still a **** gauge though

  Fook em mate, apart from Andy p you were the only one with some constructive help, thanks mate, ps Andy Duff don't know what the pressure should be, cause the last time he saw his, it was about 6 Bar,

PMSL  You're not wrong there Dave :D So what if I was using my turbos to help increase the oil pressure a bit

yaeh my after market gauge sits around 90-100 when cold then drops to 20-25 when warm at idle and back up to about 90 at full revs

sounds like yours is a little higher then mine and clarkey  , but that could be a mis-calibrated gauge or a boost jet stuck in the oilway just after the pressure switch
