Hi,

Noticed on some occasions (mainly on cold start) that there is a tapping noise coming from the engine. This seems to go after a while but the other morn it was like it and after 30mins driving, got back and noticed it was still doing it!

Any ideas? Could be tappets?

Cheers,

Dan

jesus good point!

Not sure what oil rating it was, only had the car since June and still same oil in it...believe that only Nissan oil was ever used while the guy had it as his mate worked for Nissan ;) that 10/40?

use a 0-40 synthetic in winter at least not thick stuff that takes longer to fill the hydraulic tappets after she's been standing a while and use the car more - they all do this

Ok cheers mate.....actually looks like i am low on oil! So will get a change done this wk and maybe something to run thru the engine in all ;)

I must add a point, whats the score with engine flushes and turbos? I'm sure I read that you could send sludge round to the tubo oil feeds and cause probs, anyone advise? good or bad

only if the car hasnt been looked after & there is a lot of sludge in there, usually its just small amounts of carbon deposits from the oil which the flush will dissolve

I get this a lot, it sounds like one of those old fiestas... really annoying me at the moment... doesnt sound like a V6... more like a 1.1 popular lol

So you reckon different oil could help? hmmm might be the reason it started, whats the best grade for these cold months... for a ticking engine? :headvswal

howd you flush the engine properly

only reason im asking is mate did this to his porche and screwed the car engine up
