I've just posted my findings on the Houghtons forum.

Their quotations seem to be all over the show. One minute someone gets quoted aroun £260 and them someone similar gets quoted over £500??

Currently best quote with direct line £420 for 35yr old 3 points 5 years no cliams.

Think I'll try Carol Nash as some of you guys seemed to have had fair quotes.

Seems insurance companies dont usually pay too much attention to SP penalty's though.... I had an SP30 a while ago, and they never added any on for it, which was nice!!

My brother in law recently insured his UK TT with 'em on a classic policy for under £300 (car is kept at my address)! Give them a go and let us know what they say...

29 yeas old

Norton classic car insurance £340 Fully comp

Mods declared filter and exhaust

Agreed value £5000

Excess £200

Limited milage to 3000 miles

Price includes track day cover.

I'm obviously the silly old bugger here at 44. Mind you, sod being 21 again if its going to cost me two and half grand to insure the Z. I can do all my cars and motorbikes (Rocket 3 and ZX12R) for less than £850 fully comp all round -and thats with declaring my colostomy bag. Glad there is some advantage to getting old.

44. Jap Import NA. Sports exhaust. Fully Comp £260 with Houghtons. Limited to 5000 miles

I'm 32 and I pay about £500, three points and full NCB. That was with Liverpool Victoria.

ok then, after listening to all the stories i decided to go into a brokers i walked past in concert today, now as i currently have a jap gen 6 celica (1994) i thought i'd get a quoet on that and they said £2.5K

now the quote was done on the basis of 4 years NCB, 10000 miles per year and the car garaged in a sunderland post code (where i live of course) :mac1:

anyway i then decided to ask what the cost would be if i insured a Z twin turbo import (again a jap one) and guess what,

£1400.....

couldn't believe it

£420..but I'm 47!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just bought my Z, £1300 for a 93 Jap TT, standard apart from 18's, 22 and 4 years NCB, lowest I could get but still pretty painful! Got it through Firebond, so far so good!

£850 fully comp, for a 1994 uk spec with all mods declared (thats 20K ish) and 1 blame wothy accident because a nob in a stollen car parked on my bonnett and funked off. (that really gauls me) + thats unlimited milage, parked in a private courtyard, live in the sticks, cat one imobelizer and clean licence with Ziruch. Houghtons wanted £1400

Renewed my insurance last Friday, Houghtons wanted £288 for renewal, thats up over £80 from last year for no reason, finally went with Carol Nash for £230, that includes Green Card and breakdown recovery across Europe (all classic policy).

i used to be with carol nash but got my renewal late december £1250, triple the amount i was pay at first  i was told it was something to do with axa not doing classic insurance for a while. is this true? mine is a jap tt

£340?! God damn it. I'm still looking for insurence for mine and I'm like only a few more miles towards central from you. Cheaps quote so far is £1295... for when I'm 26 actually in about a months time. -_-!!!

Try M.C.E They are very good and do limited mileage.they gave me the best quote and i tried almost everyone... :)

http://www.insuremce.com

One thing that amazes me is that I PX'd a 2.5 v6 Vectra for my Z and the insurance for the Z is cheaper that the bloody vectra was by £120 !!! Cant get me head round that one?

to muckin much £1100 im 23

:p if your 23 then im 21

Avoid "A-QUOTE"...

They gave me cheap insurance.

But when all the paperwork came through I noticed they didnt declare my mods to underwritters Norwich union. :nono:

They didnt mention it was an import Plus they altered things like mileage and where I keep the vehicle just to keep the quote down. :smash:

After speaking to Norwich union myself they told me that it made my policy void.

Needles to say i'm gettin new insurance asap...

Just dont recommend A-Quote :xxx:
