Nissan strike again

Hi ya guys.Has today been a good zed day or what, after regretfully letting Deano down by forgetting to collect his service kit (lots of sorry groval for been an idiot) I spent an afternoon under Danny`s silver zed in search of his mystery engine noise/rattle/detonation.whilst me and Danny lay on cold concrete under his car for ages, we discussed and cursed Nissan`s failure to even get the simplest jobs right!

To those who don`t know the story so far following a belt and pump change at the local Nissan garage a noise that sounded to all intention like detonation / pinking but some time a metal rattle has turned a perfectly well adjustable guy into a frustrated animal (arn`t we all?) Nissans answer top recon job basically a decoke ????

We found that on their re-assemble of the belt work they had not secured the main pivot bolt securing the alternator!! the 8" bolt having no nut on at all! bearing in mind it has an anti shake loose nut on normally so could not of fallen off....Jeeez and they are resposible for tightenning car wheels too!!!

Having replaced the nut and bolt for good measure it was a perfect bitch to do so hence know why Nissan mechanic could not be bothered.Hope this is the answer to the rattle, got a good chance, but as intermittent will have to see over next couple of days. Just leaves you cold to think they concidered that removing the heads was required? amazing. Jeff TT

Ps hope you did`nt mind me posting our story Danny? all rights and royalties will be shared of course.

That's quite alright Jeff wink.gif You only forgot to mention that we now have a genuine Nissan OEM 8" bolt for sale (minus nut).... biggrin.gif Any takers ....?

Thanks very much for a very entertaining/educational/productive afternoon. The new spark plugs (NGK PFR6B-11B's) are behaving very nicely (so far) as are the new fuel & air filters. I'm not 100% convinced that the engine rattle is bannished for ever but it may just be me trying to listen for something that isn't there ... Only the next couple of days will tell ...

Cheers mate, thanks again and see you later this week!

Danny

If only we could send instance like this direct to Nissan Head Office (somewhere in Japan me thinks)

Hope it works out to have been the problem!

Phoned about getting my PTU done on the recall but as usual with Blightey...fuck you! Pay for it instead! Unlike the yanks who got it swapped out for free!
