Hi

The mrs complained about her Volvo V40 being v sluggish recently so I've been driving it to work.

It does require more throttle to achieve the same acceleration and feels like its pulling back at the time. It has also developed a constant vibration from under the seat, not the steering wheel and a pull to the left.

So I drove about 5 miles including national speed limit roads without breaking (that was fun! :D ) and pulled over to feel the discs to see if any were binding. All were cold except the drivers side front which was slightly warm :headvswal How hot should a disc get if the caliper is sticking enough to want to slow the car down all the time.

The symptoms dont seem as bad after a bit of driving which I guess could be the caliper warming up and loosening. But the pull to the left would suggest the passenger side wouldn't it?? :headvswal

I guess I should remove the driv side caliper and lube it up but could it be anything else as its not really that hot? Any other tests I can do?

Cheers

Pete

Cheers boys - I'll look those up in the manual, sounds expensive, will whack some cleaner crap through the AFM... might work its way through to the cat too :D  Cars going for sale later this month anyway grrr!

Had a bike where the caliipers stuck and draged enough to impede performance.

The disks on that would get hot enough to burn a finger even when I wasn't braking.

Dunno if that translates to Volvos though!

I'm not rolling the car onto its side Mark, that would cause more harm than good I think :nono::D
