just wondered what stage peoples cars are tuned up too.

 

Here's the stages

 

Stock 300ZX - 300 hp

Stage 1: - Performance Exhaust system

Stage 2: - Hi-Flow Intake

Stage 3: - Computer Chip

Stage 4: - Larger Intercoolers

Stage 5: - Electronic Boost Control

Stage 6: - Larger Turbos and Injectors

Stage 7: - More tuning / dual intake

Stage 8: - Larger turbos and injectors

Stage 9: Even more hp - Nitrous Oxide

I think that usually here Stage 4 and Stage 5(on that list) are the other way around.

But from stock, i'm at stage 3, but ive missed stage 1. I dont need to worry about 4,5 or larger turbos, so in that case, some bigger injectors and ill be onto stage 7. PMSL

My NA is stock so I'm miles behind stage 0 still!

 

'Chopper' mentioned starting some sort of fact resource for NA tuning as most seems to be about TTs. I think his is about 300bhp or 400 with nitrous. And isn't Petrolheads NW Chris making a TT-whupping NA?

 

And there's plentyof talk of sticking NA V8s in too.

 

The NAs shall have their day! (maybe not until the turbos have gone pop) :nelson:

What about tunning the chasis.on that stage i'm proberbly about 8.

 

There's a lot more to tuning that just BHP, big turbos, big injectors and ECU chipping.

i've done all that bit, but to me NOS and race fuels are for draggsters not sports cars.

 

Ho! yep by the scale above I'm a 7, but really I'm just building a car that functions the way I want it to.

Heh! I know what you mean. "300bhp is more than enough for me" I thought when I got mine. Nope! Wrong again... It's stock right now, but hopefully before summer I'll bound up the stages all the way to... Stage 3.

 

Got a few running issues to sort out first though...

Thats the stage they call ownership stage 2

 

ownership stage 3 is Oh well if I replace that bit with an upgreaded bit it won't brake again

 

ownership stage 4 Sh1t now other bits are breaking i'll replace them with better bits

 

ownership stage 5 Is Now that first bit isn't up to the job so you replace with a bit thats so good it stresses the other bits, that in turn you then replace.

 

ownership stage 6 Is holy molly now its that fast I carn't stop it. Enter big brakes

 

ownership stage 7 If only she'd handle better I wouldn't need to slow down as much for corners and get shown up by dog slow boxsters and Elise. Enter springs, shocks, tiebars, camber kits, anti roll bars, bush kits, you name it.

 

 

ownership stage 8 You now look under the bonnet and think some of those bits were originally on this car. Fook there isn't much left of what I originally bought. Do i stop now and live with the monster I've made and never think again of the money now invested in my rapid, but not as rapid as the speed at which it is loosing value car. Or do I build the ultimate monster and become consumed finacially and mentally.

Guess it's Stage 1 for me then. On the lookout for an an after market air filter ( all suggestions/recommendations gratefully received) and who knows perhaps even an ECU remap which would see me at the dizzy heights of Stage III............steady

hmm going by the above list, 3 at the moment. ive got a Blitz controller ready to go in, but standard intercoolers. anyone got aftermarkets up for sale cheap? :D start the "get Dave to stage 5 on the cheap" campaign :rolleyes:

OK I am at stage.... MOT failure because PCV valves are playing silly buggers and new ones dont fit. :headvswal :headvswal

 

Do I bail on PCV and add catch tank :confused:
