Felt like sh1te this morning, but thought that I'd get as much done on the car as I could. So got the rad back in, then found out I've got a problem with the hose fittings on my nice shiney Smithy's Rad Pipe kit :( so decided to do some soldering and put some of my new conectors on the car. Now there were no problems doing that (apart from the cold weather), but I think I've stayed out in the cold far too long today, and I now feel ten times worse :(

So I went to bed at about three this afternoon, finally stopped shaking at about five, then got up at six'ish and now feel really crap! So I'm gona get the Southern Comfort out and then go to bed.

So if anyone can help me with my hose problem, please have a look here, and help a very ill fellow Zedder out please :(

TIA

No, I'm saying that my radiator outlets are too small. Smithy sugested that I may have an aftermarket rad fitted. If that is the case, how come I've got genuine hoses? I'm hopeing that someone may have come across this before.

Right, got yer!-wont the hoses pull down that much then cos silicone is pretty pliable? :x:

If I cant find a solution, then I'll give it a try, along with plenty of that orange gasket sealent stuff, just make sure that it doesn't show though ;)

some aftermarket rads do have smaller openings, I remember SMW1's Howe rad having the smaller ones. I'm sure Smithy can get you a silicon reducer of the right size.

Just my opinion mate-but don't put anything on the hose!-just try tightening down first. :)

Oh! nearly forgot use a broad hose clip, them nasty narrow ones will try to chew through the hose!

Can`t you sleeve the silicone pipes? I mean cut the end off your black hoses and put them inside the silicone ones.. Atleast you wont see the gasket kak you were going to put on there..

The spigots on my howe rad were bigger than origional so had a struggle to get them on, i'd go for a reducer personally if the hose is to big when you try to clamp it down with the clip they never clamp evenly and prop end up leaking on you

Silicone reducers 38mm to 35mm in straight and 90 deg bend type are shown in Demon Tweeks catalogue(Ive just looked) So Im sure other suppliers will have them.

HTH.

The orange silicone goo wont withstand the pressure!

Best have a break for 24 hours and get some Lemsips down your throat, while the hoses arrive!!

Dunno much about the Koyo's however if they did what Howe did, then the bottom outlet will be 32mm, i have some reducing elbows in stock especialy for the howe. Dave as the silicone you have is excatly 37.5mm I/D and your outlet is 35mm, i'd clamp it down with the hose band, don't forget and this applies to any messing with stock rads for ANY reason, the top rad outlet being plastic has been known to snap on alot more than one occassion  a couple of mm won't cause any probs, but use no silicone sealants :nono:

smithy

Hi Dave had the same problem with those rad hoses to fit my Howe Rad,rang Smithy and he sent me a couple of short ends the right size fitted them to my rad pipe ends first. Then slipped the other pipes over the top.Wide clipped em both with Mikalor clips. Not a leak since.Hope this helps.Or as previously mentioned ,cut the ends off your original pipes and do the same. But I would ring Paul first.

Thanks guys for all the support last night, I feel much better today, but had the day off work anyway, then went and spent the afternoon on the car ;)

The hose problem is sorted, Smithy, and a few others were correct, it clamped down niceley. I just didn't think it looked like it would, but I happy to be proved wrong :D

Theres a full updat on the service here, for anyone who's interested :D
