What is the Ultimate engine config for MAHOOOOSIVE power that is reliable..

I have seen the 10 second zed with stock internals.... but there could be an ultimate wish list for a ZED engine.. what would it be.

Not worried about cost, just the end results... but also am interested in traditional tuning techniques as well as all the best bolt on goodies.

After all that what would be the outcome?

The only stipulation is that it has to be reliable (so no race engine specs that need a reuild every 1000 miles)...

Come on, Indulge me.... Ryan at Ztech has just rebuilt one of my Zeds.. (thanks Ryan - you are a star!).. I might make my other one a real monster to unleash on you all this summer :hyper:

as long as you use good tried parts that are put together properly, I guess big blowers like macca will be giving you power, bigger the turbo the more power you can push theoretically. and the more rev range that you can use that power across will give you the most driveable car and speedy feeling car.

of cause for reliability everything will need to be paired correctly, and most importantly it must be tuned correctly within its limits. If you push anything to the edge it will eventually break.

Power and reliable are not 2 words which go together.

Yes they are! If all parts are chosen correctly and everything is tuned properly, then there's no reason why not ;)

5.5 ltr small block Ford V8 which is a lot smaller than the z's standard V6. With fords twin turbo kit on ford have run this engine in endurance races at 900 bhp. 650bhp in the GT40.

There is a small block 6.5 ltr v8 chevy lump I beleive that runs a Supercarger at around 700bhp ish.

A lot cheeper than upgrading the existing lump and turbos and much more reliable.

No Stu is correct IMHO,If you chase big BHP no matter how well it is all put together it WILL go bang, and how fast it takes to go bang all depends on how much you are going to squeeze out of it.

Probably best sticking an RB26DETT in

Why? LOL have you any idea how many Larks went BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM at TOTB 04?

LOTS :x:

How many zeds went boom? How many zeds went? :(

PMSL what has that got to do with a RB26dett

Well they did better than 0/0.

They seem to take more power than zeds. Or maybe their owners are richer lol.

LOL certain parts are designed to hold certain power. If you push them beyond their design, they will break, sooner or later! So as long as all the parts are up to the job (which is what this post is all about lol) then YES, you can have power with reliability...

Agree but the big question in all of this is........................

What do you call a powerfull motor?

S13 200SX  - much lighter and easier to modify !

A Black one :hyper:

A Blue one :hyper:

Couldnt agree more

Trouble with a S13 is the steering is not as sweet as a Z, it doesnt look as good and its noisier inside, but the bigest thing against them is the SXOC....Easy and cheap to make go though fast though....

LOL:D

David did you sell your 300?

No, not got Dave C to check out my boost "problem" - will do soon - bad time to sell tho what with weather and after Christmas - looking to sell in spring ie. March earliest probably.

ok - looks like we are getting away from my original question with all this cheese stuff flying around! he he he

But seriously..

If I wanted to make 600bhp from a motor that wasn't stressed to the limit, would it be possible and would it be driveable everyday?

If this is possible, what do I need - what pistons, cams, heads, turbos, exhaust?

I'm after the actual wish list. I know we have some real tuning guru's here and I don't want to do anything experimental - just the biggest power that will be useable.

Give me a few weeks and I will let you know as I will post a honest report of mine.
