Steve my mate is one of them and he drives a Zed, but he does not use forum.

he is quite approachable tho.

You never saw the thread about taking out my tubs then?

I do planning and building reg applications (hants/wilts) if you need any help.

If not just ring your local council building control tomorrow, they are normally helpful (always best to ring them between 8.30-10.00 or 3.30-4.30).

Chris.

hi steve

what do you need to know ? - i'm not an official architect but i design and build my own houses including all the planning and building regs submission.

thanks guys

what i realy wanted to no was

what is the minimum width of a stair case

is thee a restriction on ceiling hiegths

if your building a second storey on to an extinsion of about 15 years

should footings be ok

the property working on is about 200 years old if this makes any difference

o yes and how long after a build do the inspecters come around

steve

what is the minimum width of a stair case - no minimum but stadard width is 860mm - you really dont want to go any less than 750mm

is thee a restriction on ceiling hiegths - yep 2m

if your building a second storey on to an extinsion of about 15 years

should footings be ok - no way to tell if you didnt build it - you need an inspection form an engineer - not very expensive if you dig your own hole - £250 ish

the property working on is about 200 years old if this makes any difference

o yes and how long after a build do the inspecters come around - once you have approved building regs they will only inspect on key stages i.e. footings etc you have to call them in for this. if you are building under a building notice then call them in more frequently to avoid any errors.

I hope this helps

alex

p.s.

staircase dimensions are a maximum rise of 220mm and a minimum going of 220mm with a maximum pitch of 42°

Regards,

alex

your best bet is to phone building control and get hold of inspector that covers property address and go over it with them, and don't do any work intill as if not right have to take down!

I dont know if you have full plan approval or notice or non.

No reg on width, but have to get up/down and furniture! width of top/bottom landing same as width(clear area) going no less than 220mm risers no more than.

Ceiling height over stairs no less than 2m (unless on angle centre 1.9m)

Footing (foundation) exposed for check.

Inspector comes round during work.

thanks alot guys thats great help

alan i will call you in the near future

thanks again

steve
