Despite the demands by the vicious dog hating scum that wanted my German Shepherd destroyed for biting the person who completely uninvited came up to my dog and started poking around his face, British justice has shown some common sense and allowed him to live.

Now we just need our pathetic government to allow us to treat intruders the way that they deserve

Do you read the Sun ?

No. Do you read the Guardian?

Good answer - anyone who suffers would welcome legislation which mitigates against the cause. Especially if there is no great need for the cause to remain. WHY do you need a big/strong dog ?? Don't you like more docile breeds ?

I have a large breed of dog and yes his job is to guard the family and property and yes he is docile when the family is around. When we are not he does his job. would a smaller breed do , yes but it would not have the advantage of size putting someone off. so probably more likley to bite as people may feel like chancing there luck.

My wife used to work in a vets and she always said the most snappy breeds are the working dogs that are not worked fully ( labs, collies) and standard poodles

it is really down to case of each to there own and sensible ownership not legislation, trust me when it comes to animals that can cause harm the law does not work, is not inforced, or is just ignored

Well said that man! ;)

No -don't read any papers - they all tell lies/have biased view of things - get enough news off TV

OK - I'll be controversial (no change there then :nelson: )

I don't think ppl shud b allowed to own a dog which can kill/main. You cannot predict what an animal will ever do - it's like owning a gun which can go off anytime.

TBH, I cannot see the appeal (a bit like fox hunting) - is it a macho thing ?? but that makes you look a coward, as the dog will be scarier than you. How can you "love" something which could choose to hurt or even kill you ?!

I don't like being scared, and rottweilers/pittbulls/alsations etc. scar me. Yo may know the dog is soft - but I don't. Also, some dogs are trained to be vicious, so how can that be safe ?

If someone poked around in my face I would bite them too

I heard a rumour about a video with you and AdamR

The majority of dog attacks are on children under one who don't know they shouldn't prod a dog. (I think)
