My mechanic suggested that now my car is manual we should remove the hicas but he told me that he could manufacture a hicas eliminator bar like the 1 escort racing is using.Only thing i want to know is what stuff i should need to change as i want to remove all that useless metal for ex. i will close the oil pot hole that goes to the hicas but what about the pumb?

if your going to do a lot of work i'd put an n/a diff on

as to the tech stuff not my strong point

it's hard to find a na end here and all the hard work is goin to be done from my mechanic so i doesnt bother me only thing he wants to know because he didnt do something similar again is what modification the tt pumb will need

send a PM to john dixon, he has junked his hicas and got rid of all the redundant parts

whilst were on the subject of removing hicas my zeds got a stillen bar fitted with a custom made steering rack by-pass pipe but this is my question... do you bleed the power steering system out differently ??? as the rear steer rack has a pair of bleeders on it just wonderin as im gonna change the fluid but dont want to get caught out.

ive got the pukka nissan workshop manual (i know it doesnt cover removing HICAS) but it goes on about these bleeders any ideas as im not too sure about doin it now ????

No, you don't need to bleed it differently.

The HICAS is a separate circuit from the PAS, so it doesn't matter if there's air in there. Also, it will just circulate out as the HICAS solenoid moves.

Just keep a close eye on the level after you've drained it, or run the HICAS test mode to clear it out.
