As you know, I become officially unemployed as from end of next week and I would like to get out of IT and join the misses on the business. She'll be able to bail me out for a month or two, but after that, we need to keep orders coming in or its back out to work for me.

 

I'm looking for good ideas on where to advertise and market the stuff. So I am calling on the 300zx crew to come up with some ideas and suggestions and I promise (cubs honour) to reward anyone whos idea does well in the future. ;)

 

Lads mags we have found to do well on the small stuff. So my main target market is your typical FHM reader. My other target market is the kind of guy who will spend £400 on undies for his misses (for the made to order stuff). Havnt found out how to taget this type of punter as yet.

Women dont buy for themselves so forget that (unless you know different).

 

I was thinking about gate crashing a few other car forums, but not sure if they'd want some burk flogging un-related stuff.

I know I can get away with it here (I hope) as I am heading towards being part of the furniture round here and I'm offering genuine benifet to members.

How about GQ or even 'aspirational' motoring titles like CAR and BIKE?

 

Or even the local papers? they're much cheaper and you might be able to get deals that run over several. Big local papers like the Nottingham Evening Post and Leicester Mercury sell about 100,000 a day. FHM is probably more like 500,000 though!

Yes, deadline looming up for Valentines- 1st of Jan for Jane Woorich items and will be around mid Jan for Diki.

Usual target for that stuff is Anniversary gift which is all year round.

 

Thanks also for the ideas lads- Misses is going in GQ in Feb for the first time so will be interesting to see. Also got the usual FHM going too.

As for the lesbian girls, we got an ad in this and last months Diva Magazine which didnt do too well. Only a few orders, but we did get it well cheap.

Yep, it's the one with the fcuking annoying adverts on the TV.

Pretty big seller though!!

If you are considering several similar newspapers, you may want to divide the advertisement cost by number of readers, to give you the cost per reader. This shows you where you get most bang for the buck. This method doesn't work if you are comparing widely different papers, of course.
