Hi,

If I can work this out after a few "haufs" A few photos of my Zed should appear. Bought the car back in March as a non-runner through Ebay for £1200. Spent another £1000 or so to this stage. (many thanx to Dave Chung)

Both for parts and advice, cheers mate ! :)

Thanx to all who have given me advice through this club.

I can assure you it wont be the last!!

Now if you get pulled over for not having a front plate, before you stop, push the cable so the plate is now down.

Top idea that! Might even evade the front-facing speed cameras with that little trick (especially setting the plate near the back of the bumper opening).. :)

Mmmmm!!

Wonder if I can get away with a slightly smaller plate on the front ??

That would make it even harder !! ;)

Alan.....

I think that there is a white one on here the same.

Mujina`s Although I stand to be corrected if wrong !

Looks good in silver tho !! HHmmmm.

Alan......

Very nice looking car mate :)

Your front bumper does look similar to the one on mine from that head-on angle - yours is a bit more "curvy" though.

My number plate is fixed to the top of the opening using a couple of metal brackets - holes have been drilled through the top of the opening with the holding bolts being inside of the bumper.

Cheers for that ! :D

As the original style of bumper doesnt have as many air holes as the one fitted to mine, I dont suppose putting the number plate there would hinder the cooling facility ??? Again, correct me if I am way out. ;)

Thanx,

Alan..........

It's looking good, did you buy it in Carluke/Lanark?

Yup, sure did, you know the young lad that was selling it ??

Surprising the amount of people who have said they either went to see it, or thought about it.

I believe he seeked advice on this forum, and tried to sell it through here as well.

Yup, that is indeed the very one.

I actually seen it on Ebay, and as I had a drive in one about 6 months previous, it stuck in my brain somewhere; "must look into these cars" :)

I thought my 5.7ltr, tpi Camaro IROC was a fast car !! :slap:

As it was cheap I thought, why not !!

3 months later when the engine was coming out of it for the 2nd time, I thought, This is the last project I ever do !!

Still, in love with her now and in the new year, will start to mod etc methinks.

They are classic cars imo.

I thought about it, - I'm in Newmains so it wasn't far away, and reckoned that the fault was probably fixable, (I later heard that whoever attempted to fix it for the guy selling it, had used a couple of "rogue" bolts on the heads)

I fancied it because it looked like a bargain, but after spending £3K+ on bits for my other bargain Z, I decided one was enough at the time

I'm glad it's back on the road

Dont know where you heard that from about the wrong head bolts, but that was spot on !! On the left bank, the two rear most bolts had a spline fitting and not the hex. Also had between 6 & 7 washers on these bolts coz they were about 25 mm too long !! Head gasket was burst at that bit, surprise surprise !!

A friend of mine stays in Newmains, has a red Sierra with a Zed turbo in it.

He must have hated me for doing his head in with questions !! ;)

Hi- I heard about the head bolts from a bloke in Bellshill who builds hot rods/ spaceframes. He also mentioned that he knew the bloke with the ZED/sierra..... small world right enough.

I didn't know he lives in Newmains. I've never seen it around here- though I've seen it at shows etc.

AAHHH !! :)

That will be Big Wully Hill, Forklift man for BT Rolatruc. :)

He was the mate who used his trailer to bring the Zed home for me.

Does a nice hot-rod build by the way !!

And I thought the names on here were strange ;)

Much respect for people who can build proper hotrods though - anyone who can panel beat metal into the weird and wonderful shapes they have is a god, IMHO :)
