Had a few run in's with them. some are :xxx: but most are just doing what they are paid for.

Can be a nusence and seem petty at times, but cant we all at some time or other!

On a whole I'd say its a hard job to find the right ballence between doing whats "right" and upholding the "Law". Cant please all the people all of the time.

What pi55ed me off is you get all the high officers coming on TV saying that its not their fault crime is on the increase, they need more officers

but

if thats the case EVERY day near me for approx 4-6 hours a day they have a motorway traffic car sat at the side of the road (parked illegal i might add) with a camera in it and approx 600 yrd down the road is 3-4 other cars with upto 10 coppers all pulling cars in and doing whatever so i ask the question

Is this affective use of police time??? is this helping to stop serious crime???

Kirbz

Most are on an ego/power trip I'm afraid & shouldn't be in the force. IMO of course ;)

usually they p1ss me right off but.........

Yesterday I got stoppped after making an illegal left turn

They just gave me a bit of a tellin off, a producer and I was on my way.

Thats how it should be.

I'll think twice next time, and have left with slightley more respect for the law.

I hate any pork chop behind the wheel of a car! W@nk3rs!!!

I agree with the nazi spot check brigade thing aswell, they're always doing that here in Essex, usually a white Omega (parked illegally on the pavement I might add) radioing ahead to the checkpoint to pull whoever they see fit.

What exactly does this achieve? They make such a song and dance about traffic offences but that's exactly what they are OFFENCES not crimes against humanity FFS! Oh and I bet they include all the stops for speeding, tax dodging, no insurance, parking illegally etc. in their monthly crime figures to boost the numbers.

Policing is sub-standard in this country compared to 10/20 years ago...my opinion??? F\/cking do one you useless bunch of c\/nts! ;)

What makes me mad is say some chav broke into your Z and stole the ice etc they won't even come out and take finger prints :( Yet you speed by 6mph or drive past them with no seatbelt and see how fast they stop you :smw: Peter from PPS was doing 75 on the motorway and they said he was doing 82 he also had other cars doing the same speed as him but they pulled him over and gave him a fine WHY? I guess it was because he was driving a modded car.

Yeah mate, that's what they said to me when I got stopped for the second time in one day coming back from my Nephews Birthday party.

He copper said to me "You crawled past us doing 75mph which you should not have done!", eh? WTF, so just because you are a copper in a T5 doing 70mph no other f\/cker is allowed to overtake you? F\/ck off!

Most are on an ego/power trip I'm afraid

This is my opinion. Regular guys with a uniform turns them into complete ar5eholes. The power thing goes to their head. And the resources they use on traffic related issues is simply not justified.

I'd feel happier if when my car was broken into i got more than

"we won't catch them, thanks for filling the form in you aresehole, look what you are doing to our unsolved crime figures"

but of course, on the way home I had to spend 90% of my attention looking for them trying to nick me for doing 71mph in a 70limit.

Yep, I'm getting more and more p1ssed off with Brunstrom's Speedway Army...I appreciate the fact that traffic coppers do have to attend RTA's etc. So I know that certain parts of their job are not pleasant but they make up for that in being bullyish and sarcastic when they stop you for so called speeding.

I have mixed views about them, I accept in most cases they are needed and do a good job, however when a lot of people start in a position of power they struggle to use it correctly at first, I always think older coppers or "more experienced coppers" (so not to offend young people), deal with things better. A few years ago (honest) I was let off for an MOT or lack of it by an older copper who didnt worry about it"as long as you've the insurance" he said, I dont think a less experienced copper would have done that because I find they stick closer to the disciplinary action than seeing you as a person and cutting some slack.

My main general complaints would be-

1/ would be much the same as most people on here probably, Speed cameras are not a true way of reducing speeders, its mearly provides revenue, I could understand it outside a school etc but I was caught speeding at 7am on a clear carriage way, one guy was already being done and before I left another was pulled up (probably 50%) of the cars in about five minutes, it was all very casual not much said details ticket away you go, there was no "do you realise blah blah" it was just revenue to buy more cameras or whatever.

2/If they are stick to collecting money from speeders that reveue should go back to the service of the motorist, for example as already pointed out, follow up on car break-ins, road surfaces repairs or towards road tax etc

I recently read they are about to employ people (none police)to do the speed camera work and so avoid the slagging off the public keep giving them, what can we argue then!

Coopers are idiots.

I was attacked by Three lads with a kitchen knife about three weeks ago for the keys to the 300. Of course i told them to get stuffed (which lookng back was a bit silly). So i held my keys out for the one with the knife to to take and is he put the knife down and reached for keys i hit him and ran.

I was arrested the same night for assault.

Hello you idiots what about the who approached me (attempted car jacking/aggrevated at that)

I think that the whole police farce is too business-orientated, and that it's all about money. It's so totally obvious that speed cameras are NOT put up in places where there are accidents, they're put up where they'll catch the most motorists. There was a chap in Farnborough who was in the papers a few months back coz the cops banned him from driving for warning motorists of a speed trap, and he wasn't even in a car!!! http://www.pistonheads.com/speed/default.asp?storyId=8553

Solidarity brother!

And there are sooooooooo many stories about people who are victims of REAL crime (assault, robbery, etc) where the police just couldn't be less bothered about it.

Anyway, like I said, I think the main problem is how it's all run. If the pigs were focussed on protecting the public from crime, rather than increasing revenue, I think things would be better.

Now that is a total DISCRACE IMHO!

Ill give you a quick example of why i hate them.

A few months ago on Cowdenbeath high street, some coppers pulled over a couple of guys in a subaru WRX. They werent speeding or driving like idiots, they just pulled them because it was a WRX and it was loud. Whilst the police were taking there detail etc two old women were mugged on the same street. Their bags etc were stolen. Police never caught the people who did it either. :xxx:

Generally speaking they are tw@ts (but so are most people I meet these days  ) Traffic division are a different breed from most of the others for being needlessly PETTY. Our cars are the most traceable things in the universe as far as having a paper trail is concerned, and its sooooo easy to bump up the STATISTICS that politicians/police love to wave about.

They are also driven by a lazy media, who cannot be bothered to go out and do proper investigative journalism when it's so much easier to make up a screaming headline to prod the lazy/dumb UK public into a self-obsessed/self righteous frenzy.

This country needs to get a grip on reality, and realise that shit happens, we're ALL gonna die sometime, and some things are OUR OWN FAULT!

Interesting site:- .... http://www.statistics.gov.uk/STATBASE/ssdataset.asp?vlnk=7254

Quote:- The United Kingdom has a good record for road safety compared with most other EU countries. In 2001 it had the lowest road death rate in the EU, at 6.1 per 100,000 population. The highest road death rate in the EU was in Portugal, at 21.0 per 100,000 population (in 2000). The UK rate was also substantially lower than those for other industrialised nations such as Japan (7.9 per 100,000 population), Australia (9.0) and the United States (14.8). The United Kingdom also has a relatively good record in terms of overall road accidents involving children. In 2001 the UK death rate for children aged 0 to 14, at 1.7 per 100,000 of population, was the fourth lowest in the EU. Sweden had the lowest rate, at 1.1 per 100,000 population, while in France the rate was 2.7 and in Ireland it was 3.2.

Interesting poll then as most of us are not that keen on them

My uncle has been in the force for best part of 30 years and we quite often sit down and talk about his time, especially now I have kids. Most of the problems stem from the bleeding hearts brigade, who have empowered kids with the right to prosecute their own parents for just about any kind of discipline, empowered the criminal with human rights. He quite often feels what is the point of nicking anyone under 30 these days as more often than not the Crown Prosecution Service and the Courts do not deal with them as criminals, they get treated as the victims of their youth, so it's not their fault they commit crimes, it's the victims fault for putting temptation in their way. FFS I've seen a 48 yr old man cry because he can't do the job he believed would make a positive difference to peoples lives! Yes he's done a stint with Traffic, was an area car driver in Teesside for a few years but transfered out because of the politics of HAVING to pull drivers for what ever reason just to keep the numbers up.( Oh and by the way, If your MOT has expired your insurance is invalid ) And if any of you are wondering why he's still a copper, he has a family to support and being a copper is all he's ever known, he retires in 6 months and is looking forward to a well earned rest.

I know some of them are tw*ts, so does my uncle but the majority do a good if not bloody impossible job.

Just my 2p worth.

It's a total hit and miss with respective bobbies.. some decent, some not :(

It's fair to say that the decent ones have their hands tied behind their backs and bound to their feet with red tape.

But my experiences with police leave a lot to be desired... My house got broken into while I slept, they nicked money and some other things and my Saab 9000 CSE. They got in through the back door, nothing was broken, god knows how they got in. When the police got there about 7pm (I reported at 8:30am) Woman police officer starts asking me how they got in, I said through the back door. Then she starts gettin all arsey, accusingly saying that I left it open deliberately and how did they get the door open, I said 'you're the f\/ckin detective, you tell me!?' she started making sarcy comments about expecting to find it 'conveniently' burnt out, and that I no doubt had a fat insurance claim on the way. By this time I was 'slightly miffed'

The car was discovered about 3 weeks later undamaged and they informed me that it would taken into storage for finger prints etc. They contacted me about another 3 weeks later to pick it up I went up to pick it up and the ******* tried to charge me £800 for storage! I went ballistic and told them to stick it up their arse and they could sort it out with my insurances lawyers. I got 2.5k from insurance as I refused to take it back after unknown damage was done to car mechanicals by the burglars raggin it. (car was then worth abouth 4-5k!) and then washed my hands of it.

Dont like em. Got stiffed by a traffic cop in court some years ago and have hated em since then. He even tried to lie about certain aspects of my evidence when I had photos submitted as evidence that showed otherwise. Power trip crazy freaks.

Too much emphasis on the easy nicking of motorists and not enough effort put into real policing and tracking proper criminals down.

Nick

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

I've had good and bad experience with them, without writing a short story about it, I've been let off minor speeding offences, or being one day over my tax disc expiring, but when it comes to being assaulted by three cowardly basta rds and being permanantly reminded of it by the scars on my face, they did NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING to help me. All they did was take a statement and take photos. I never heard anything after, was promised calls back for me to never get them, in the end I just gave up asking what was going on. Now, I don't know about you but I'd rather have paid a fine for the other offences and have something done to catch these c\/nts that are still walking the streets, rather than get away with spot fines.

And to think as a child I wanted to be a "Policeman" so bad... :(

I don't like the (large) number of coppers who sit in a canteen whinging, them feign a bad back at 45 and retire on full money.

Also, coppers lied in court to convict (and sent to prison for 9 months) a mate recently. He had done the crime but they lied to ensure a conviction which was worrying.

I'm gonna cut and paste this thread, print it off and post it anon to Brunstom at Pig Central, Colwyn Bay, N. Wales!!! ROFLMFAO :D :D

Just looked at the poll results and I see you can see who voted for what! Thats a new one.

I recently read they are about to employ people (none police)to do the speed camera work and so avoid the slagging off the public keep giving them, what can we argue then!

They've been doing this for a couple years now , most countys now have so called 'safety camera partnerships'. They are far worse than gatso's as they use vans that could be parked anywhere and mainly civilians operate the camera out the back window. Police officers can man the vans and get paid overtime for it though!!

The scamera partnerships are growing rapidly as the cash is so easy and too good to turn down. They get to keep a large percentage of the takings, so spend/waste as much as they can on new vehicles/cameras/staff (including statiticians and PR ppl to try and justify their existance).

As much as you can trust politicians, the tories have said they will scrap them if they come to power.

It's been on the news recently about the police having to make cutbacks on staff, they dont have the funds apparently. How come I see them everyday cruising around in Mercedes' and Lexus' then? It's a pisstake.
