Couple of pointers needed

Fitted my new underdrive pulley, cam belt covers, hard pipes etc today. Just need to replace the water pipes and radiator etc tomorrow.

The hard pipes came with 5 silicone tubes to replace the 5 hoses that normally go into the intake pipes. Is it ok to simply replace these? I noticed in 2 of the stock hoses there were little wire brush thingys?

Also, when i refill the radiator how do i bleed it etc?

Cheers

Scott

There's a procedure in the manual for this one ;)

here

Basically (this bit only works on a Series 1 A/C system) - turn the ignition to On, press the Auto and Off switches together for at least five seconds, then press Auto twice till the display reads as it does on the page above. Leave the ignition on for 10 seconds or so, then switch off.

(If you have a Series 2 then the best thing I can think of is to just turn the ignition on, set it to full heat, wait 20 seconds or so then switch the ignition off - if the above procedure doesn't still work. Unless anyone knows otherwise.)

Open the bleed screw on the radiator and the radiator cap and fill the radiator slowly - it'll take a while, and you'll find that you'll be filling, wait a bit, it'll all disappear and so on..

It's easier if you can park the car on a slope or jack the front up so that the radiator is elevated some I find, easier to get the air out.

If you've got hard rad pipes on then it's a bit slower as you can't squeeze the top rad pipe to encourage the air out :)

Once you think you've got it full, start the car (take it off the jack if you've got it in the air :)) - I tend to do that bit with the rad cap etc off still - and watch to see if the level drops. It probably will, so top up as necessary.

When it's all starting to get warm, switch it off and then leave it all to sit for a while - come back a bit later and top up some more (most likely).

Fill the expansion tank up to between min & max if it's empty.

Check it all after you've driven anywhere for the first time and top up as necessary.

And after all that, you should be good to go..

It's not really tricky, just very dull filling it and waiting for coolant to percolate through the system so you can fill it a bit more :)

cheers aaron. Think ill print that. ;)

Any ideas about the weird wire brush thingys? Is it ok to leave them out?

thanks again
