I am looking into getting a wide arch kit but want to keep my exsisting wheels at least for the time being as they are fairly new and I do like them, I have been told wheel spacers have been used by several people but I cant help thinking that this is (in my mind) altering your offset, it must also apply extreme load on you rear bearings and general components, it may very well affect any calculations the ECU may use for HI-CAS etc ?.

obviously we all know they are not as sensible as a correct wheel but is there a peticular danger with them.

As I dont have a lot of knowlege on the subject other than a gut feeling, I would appreciate you oppinion and feel free to put me straight on my thoughts Please add your comments- thank you

Normal spaces that reduce the length of your wheel studs are a NO NO,however proper hub spaces like the ones you need for the wide arch are fine.

I have never heard of a single set causing problems on a Z.I had mine fitted in 2001 and am still on the same wheel bearings ;)

I had 8mm ones on the front with my old alloys, to clear the calipers. Was all fine for ~3 months then one day the nuts popped off on one wheel coming off a roundabout over a pothole. :nono: Result - new caliper, wing and 4 new alloys

Macca -yeh this is what Luke has then is it? this is the typre I am refering to,

Pete 8mm spacer I presume this will just sit in between the wheel and hub, Ive actually got three mm ones on the front which seem ok as you still get a lot of thread for the wheel nuts but the rear will need 3" extentions, and must be like those Macca has on thumb nails with stud extentions.

I am happy if these are acceptable thanks fellas

Yeah 3mm should be fine. The huge rear ones have their own bolt extensions dont they? If so then the nuts will have plenty of thread :)

The wheel bearings on Z's are pretty tough tbh. I still don't like the thought of that huge offset though - all IMO of course :) What do I know? I'm in IT

Andy you are obviously on my way of thinking on this one, It cant be right can it - a three inch extention to the offset!, but if macca and probably loads of other guys are using them without problem why should I worry, if I do actually go ahead with it maybe the problems that may arise later will be cheaper than running some silly width tyre? or hub mod.

Im using the same ones that Macca has got (he recommended them to me)

Gotta say excellent piece of kit and my spacer is bigger then his and i havent had any problems with it!

Cheap spacers are crap - proper hub spacers are better

yep .. get some nice hubcentric spacers .... worth it IMO ..

Cost a bit but v important.

I have got the 60mm ones from luke on my rear end and have no probs at all been on since May :D:D Very lite too....

My steel 60mm ones for me wide arch kit arrived from SE Nistek yesterday afternoon, they were in for chroming within the hour    Nice bit of kit.Dont have any worries at all about fitting them on my Zed.

I had to put 5mm spacers on the front when I put my R33 GTR bembo's on. I was worried about the amount of thread left on the bolts so I changed the bolts for longers ones and get more turns now than I did with the stock brakes and no spacers.

have any of you seen the spacers on tattoomans blingmobile? they are absolutely huge.. at least 6-7" he has had no problems at all. and believe me he drives it bloody fast!!
