ECU/Chip Upgrade

Is there anyone in the UK that is able to supply/modify/upgrade the existing ECU on a UK Automatic TT? I understand you can send the chip to the US, however I want to avoid this. Finances are limited at the moment, so cant spend 100's of £££ on this smile.gif Can anyone help?

Yes 300zxTT!!!I had an ECU remap from SE NISSAN.And the car is awesome,Though I do

use more fuel. IMHO biggrin.gif it was well worth it.

Ok i know here we go again,

But and im not even going to go on about the S.E chip... (although last tiem i saw eddies car it was being fettled by pete with his new chip smile.gif) and now look where it is lol..

no offence intended.

ECU is probably something you dont want to skimp on, as it seems the same old adage. you get what you pay for..

Warren,

You're jumping to conclusions. I don't think Eddies car was running an SE chip. (But I do know who does and I know quite a lot about the chip!)

I can also reveal that anyone running an early car would probably benefit from running as late a chip as possible as the maps changed quite frequently. Something like a '94 would probably be best. Also, it is perfect possible to run an auto chip in a manual car, but not the other way around.

no no im not saying that , just what i saw lol

Any ideas on the price of an SE chip?

£225 and well worth it biggrin.gif This makes one hell

of a difference, and a fraction of the cost

of an ecu biggrin.gif

Trey £500 for boost upgrade and chip.If you

get them both at the same time biggrin.gif

but thats the thing you say thats cheap right ?

£500. you can get a blitz ecu (a much better name regarding jap performance)

You could also get JWT all in for that price. There are about 15 ecu manufactureres, and yes no decent ones in England, but you have to shop if you want good properties.

Do your self a favour and contact Lymon wink.gif he knows alot about them

The SE chip was developed on my car both on a rolling road and in 'real' driving conditions in and around the Essex country lanes smile.gif (with Pete programming from my passenger seat).

I can't remember the precise before figure but it was in the region 370 at the flywheel. The flywheel figure wasn't guessed - it was based on the power at the wheels minus the transmission drag recorded on the rollers after letting off the throttle on each run.

The after figure was 432 bhp at the flywheel. Mods were JWT POP filter, gutted cars, Mongoose exhaust, standard turbos with 360 degree thrust bearings, 1 bar boost.

May will argue with raw numbers due to calibration (although it was an official Bosch rolling road), barometric pressure, air temperature but the important thing is the before and after. I was there and you have my word that the above is all true. In addition, all runs were recorded on graphs and Pete has the graphs.

Peak figures were actually higher than the final figure but Pete wanted to see how far it would go and then backed it off for safety. It was also done using standard unleaded so that I could then run super as I wanted to give myself extra security.

The road tests were done afterwards to check real load situations and resulted in some tweaks around 4000-5000 revs to clear flat spots and sort minor detonation. I then ran the car for a week and we then did some more tweaking on the road. Pete then did nothing in terms of marketing until I had driven the car for a month and given more feedback.

Badge engineering is an important thing to avoid (IMHO) when looking at ECUs. Pete built his knowledge through work on Ford World Rally Team engines and various single seater teams in the States and also F3000 in Europe. He doesn't make a big deal about this but I think it's quite important when considering whether to trust his work.

I'm not going to make any recommendations for or against SE - everyone should make their own mind up. Customer Service is also an important part of a business and I know that many have complained of problems in that area.

Anyway - enough said. I haven't voiced my opinions on SE for ages and thought that those who haven't been around for a while might be interested.
