I have just ordered a pair of:

Front Strut Bar to Chassis poly bushes from Supaflex, to replace the fluid filled ones on mine that are leaking.

They seem very reasonably priced at £40.52 (UKS) + VAT and carriage for the pair.

They have more on the shelf if anyone's interested.

They're only $49.95 from Courtesy, but you get rogered for the delivery, the VAT, the Import duty etc ....

The bushes arrived next day, took about an hour and a half to do both sides, trickiest but is fitting the new bushes - brute force and ingnorance needed smile.gif

Impossible to tell if its any better as I still don't have power steering...

Tim,

How did you remove the old bushes and fit the new ones ? Did you need press ?

Andy,

What I did was drill holes around the outer edge of the bush, in the rubber on both sides, then push out the centre of the bush.

This leaves you with 2 raised rings around the inside of the bush, you need to run the hacksaw through these, they then pop out, you then need to do the same with the larger sleeve inside the whole bush, again it then pops out.

You don't need a press to get the old bush out as you 'muller' it but you will need require a large bench vice to push the new bush in.

Fittin the new bush is a bugger, it is conical at both ends with a lip whilst the centre section is the correct diameter. I found the only answer was to crank it in using the vice.

Hope it helps

Tim

The silicone in the bushes. Where is it? Is there some kind of void inside the bush that holds the gooey silicone? Also might sound a bit Heath Robinson but is it at all possible you could re-inject silicone rubber setting mastic to replace the leaked stuff? Might make the bush stiffer than it should be but never as stiff as the rose jointed kind! Probably my next job is to replace the bushes but wondered about that.

Willie,

Forget it - you're on a hiding to nothing. The inertia cxaused by the brakes under load would split them open again.

Go for the poly bushes they're not too expensive and they are a great improvement.

Good luck

Tim
