Help.....is there anything i can do for now?

Need your advice ASAP guys. I`ll try cut a long story short.

I was driving to Kebab shop when i noticed a white cloud coming from my engine bay. I checked the temp Guage and it was above the middle (that is it was starting to get hot). I pulled over and lifted the hood to a huge white cloud and lots of hissing. Waited for everything to cool down and opened the radiator cap. On opening the cap there was a small gush of water and then a huge gush of steam. Anyway, after waiting longer i managed to fill the radiator with over 3 litres of water. I drove for a mile and stoppped. looked under the car and there was dripping of what i guess is water. I managed to fill the radiator with more water and quickly came home.....

So whats going on? I assume there is a leak but can i do something about it or do i need to take it to a garage. I am at work tomorrow and dont have another car yet if i keep topping it up do you think i can last the week?

I tried 'lasting' on a motorbike with a coolant leak. It knackered the engine.

A mate's car started leaking coolant really fast. I got him to pour in water and I looked under the engine... I could see where it was coming out... the coolant drain bolt had dropped out!

I guess if it's only dripping out slowly, you might be ok to keep filling it up.

Are you in the AA or anything like that? It might be worth driving a couple of miles and calling them out if so.

No definite answer there.. sorry.. maybe have a fry up or walk to the kebab shop until you get it fixed ;)

Its only going to ge worse bud so u have to get it sorted one way or another..DON'T even think about that rad weld stuff as it will block up your cooling system to a degree, get the system pressure tested if u cant find the leak.

Good luck, lkeep us posted.

I would be inclined to leave the car alone until

you know exactly what the problem is, heat is

a major issue with a zed. Not worth risking it....imho.

HAve a look at the two rubber pipes that join the top rad pipe to the head (behind the pipe that has the temp sensors in it) these are a common place for a big leak, which it sounds like you have. No real way to "bodge" if it is them :( Also check that your rubber rad pipes from the top and bottom of the rad are tight, and that the joint of your top one to the rad on the left hand side of the rad , hasnt split
