As the title says :)

Just building myself a new Intel P4, upto now always used Win98, never seen a reason to upgrade. Whats best to upgrade too. Also used to use Norton AntiVirus and Firewall, heard a few people slate it, whats best. Dont mind buying software.

Thanks

Barry.

Go XP Pro. Nothing wrong with Norton AV, XP's Firewall is fine. Just make sure you keep everything updated.

XP & Mcafee & spysweeper works for me =]

Give mozilla firefox a try too, more secure than IE6

mcafee and xp for me seems a good setup apart from having AOL i should of listened to you all

MS have never made a better OS than Windows 2000!

XP Pro,it's own firewall, Norton systemworks, and spybot.

My PC is almost permanently switched on and connected to the internet via Zen Broadband.

Not had any problems with viruses, etc. The main thing is which ever protection you have, make sure you keep upto date with the patches etc.

XP pro, the best, makes my PC a joy to use, been using 2000 for the past few days 'cos i managed to break my XP, damn it was crappy in comparison to XP, i mean REALLY crappy felt like it was designed by muppets in the dark ages.

Currently running gentoo + debian at home, use XP + debian at work...Would have to say if you're going to use MS then don't use IE or outlook (express or otherwise). Most worms + viruses tend to propogate through vulnerabilities within these two. XP's not too bad at all, and MS have upped the stakes with SP2 - provided it doesn't break anything :)

xp pro and mcafee

SuSE linux 8.0! LMFAO :)
