Finally come to the conclusion my old air horn is totaly busted and having no nissan horn fitted I am going to just buy a new horn, does anyone have any suggestions? the last one i had fitted wouldn't have been out of place on a noddy car, it wouldn't have scared a 12 year old girl on a push bike, it was actually embarrising and i refrained from using it (hence not worrying about it being offline)

I want something that is befitting to the car, IE people shit them selves when they hear it :D

Mike,

I have the same prob, my horn is crap, to say the least :D When I took the bumper off, it had the OEM horns connected, but i think only one works, it also had a set of aftermarket ones on, but these didnt work at all

Anyway, I use to have a Capri 2.8i, and this had twin OEM horns as standard, and these sounded very nice, might, take a trip to the local Ford dealer :D As they work on the same basis as ours do ;)

I fitted Fiam electromagnetic horns (to a mtorbike) as they were advertised as being really loud. They weren't loud at all. Rubbish!

I heard air horns were good.

I was on a float (ie lorry) in a small town parade thing once. The driver hit the horn on small back streets and it made people LEAP back and kids cry - really. It was that loud. But I think that was the sort of air horn with 4ft trumpets etc.

I've got a pair of Halfords twin air horns on mine :D

Loud as fook and great for scaring old people at the end of traffic light qtr miles ;)

Only £15 squids too if I remember rightly.

Wot yer Want and really really want,is a pair of KLAXONS. In days gone buy they were used to tell the workers when they could knock off work, very very lowed.I had them fitted to my E Type Jag.You can still get hold of them from classic car suppliers. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Maybe you could get one of those wind-up air-raid sirens :D

Just fit a faulty prop shaft bearing and you get the same effect :D

I know at Bark's shop he has some musical Air horns that play The Dukes of Hazzard thingamebob...........

Ive heard that you always based yourself as a bit of a Daisy Duke ;)

LOL, you could weld the door shut too :D

Mike,

I fitted a pair of FIAM twin air horns last year. Made a bracket up to hide the horns so you cant see them when you look at the front of the car, but still so they expell the noise nicely. Then mounted the compressor under the headlamp panel so I can get to it if theres a problem.

They are loud as hell and for 15 sheets are very befitting of the car.

Nick

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Ive been looking for some trucker air horns - loud as feck. They make them with small trumpets but about 4 I think as opposed to 2.

just imagine someone stepping out - not looking then hearing feck off loud truck horns :)

I just ordered a 139DB air horn from speeding.co.uk 24notes but i'm hoping it is loud, its very small also :D

I wonder if you can get them that play "brown noise"!

This thing plays brown noise i tell thee, it's LOUD

139DB @ 4 inches

115DB @ 2 meters

anyone know if there is a legal limit? i just set it off near my head and i have a headache now

Are horn connectors all the same? I need a new one, dont want an airhorn, but would like something less poofy than the stock zed horn. The Mrs Vectra's horn is nice and beefy, wonder if one of them would connect up ok?

should be okay, as long as you can connect 12volts across it,

was a right pain fitting my horn though, found 2 other non-working horns hidden around the bumpers, I got this from http://www.speeding.co.uk and its LOOOOUD

Mike, I just ordered one too

I hope its as loud as you say :)

i've shown about 6 people so far, all start laughing and then tell me it must be illegal :D

lets see if AdamD reads this thread, he is witness to this horns power.

They come with a very small boy dressed in Roman attire, attached to a 4 foot Chromed trumpet :D , sitting on the bonnet!

of course, you know I will have to buy one now. This is an expensive car to run, all the essential things we have to buy...

LOL

That horn is fapping loud, it made my ears ring a bit

Quite high pitched but the sound pressure is amazing, sounds like a boat/train

Wonder what would happen if you fitted two :hyper:
