pete shrimp Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 There are no legal reasons why a LHD car cant be driven over here, but the car will have to go through an SVA test on entry - which is like a rigorous MOT, ensuring its roadworthyness and safety, if it to be imported permenently and registered. Guest sandman Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 ahh cool...whats all involved??? is it just a safety test, as in making sure theres no exhaust leaks, seat belts work, etc etc, or more mechanical??? since it was originally a non turbo before it the front clip off a TT was put in..in canada they didnt come with air bags...that and i replaced my cats with test pipes...would either of them be an issue??? itd suck if i bring it over, and have to spend ass loads of money to get it up to par... good to see theres a lotta these cars here tho! im on vacation for a bit in a place called gorleston, and went to london..havent seen any 300s at all..:( Quote
Gio Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Driving a LHD car in UK is no problem (apart from for the driver!). http://www.dvla.gov.uk/faq/faq_imports_exports.htm gives you the government regs. Good luck Quote
pete shrimp Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 They are pretty rare on the roads but then thats the appeal for a lot of us, but you'll find this forum lots of help with any problems Yeah the SVA/MOT is more of a safety regs test than mechanical. Cats are required by law on cars made after Apr 1992, but on later cars people just replace them for the yearly MOT then whip them off again :D Quote
Guest sandman Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 ahh k cool, thanx, finding cats shouldnt be too hard...car stands to be a little faster here too :D calgary has an elevation of 3700 ft, so cars are about 0.7-1.0 seconds slower on the 1/4 mile because of thinner air... but thanx a lot! the link helped, after about 10 machines i talked to haha Quote
