Got to use my fog light conversion (inner brake lights) in anger for the first time yesterday. When it was fitted I tested it thoroughly and everything was ok. Now when I use it and hit the brake pedal the 'lights' warning message pops up on the dash. I've checked all the lights and everything seems to be working fine. Any ideas what's going on there then?

Cheers

Don't quote me on this.. but I think you need to use a relay to get this to work correcly (no warning lights)

David,

I'm currentley working on a FAQ for Fog Lights, but I beleive what you are finding, is that when you press the brake pedal normally, ALL your brake lights work. But with a relay in and using the two inner brakes as fogs, when you then press the brake pedal, yourrelay is already cutting off the inner brake bulbs, so the 'Bulb-Out' devise is 'Seeing' 'Bulbs' out!!!!!

But for referance, here is the link,

Ah, yes that makes sense! Funny thing is, it definately didn't do it when I tested it - and its never warned me about any of my bulbs when they have been out! (e.g. main beam) Its like the warning thingy has just sprung into life.

I'll just use it as a useful reminder that my fogs are still switched on.

One very good thing about this brake/fog conversion, the bloke who was driving right on my arse on very wet road didn't half slow down when I switched them on! :D

..........

It only works on the REAR lights, ie; Tail and Stop only. It doesn't work on the Indicators, Reverse or ANY of the Front lights.

Shame, that would have been handy!

You've already done the conversion, but i've used my rear brake light on the spoiler as a fog light this way you should have no probs, also you keep the nice long brake lights which make the car distinctive at night.

Ah, but with the relay conversion you do still keep the long brake lights - the inner bits just sort of become multi functional - which is nice :)

Yep i like this idea myself, and , when I get the new OEM spoiler on, this is what I'm gona do on my Zed. The FAQ I'm working on will have ALL the possible permutations of rear Fog Lights possible for the Zed.................. When It's complete ;)
